Editorial Reviews
In focus groups, online polling, and one-on-one discussion, Transit Books has found that the number one reason teens don't read the Bible is that it is "too big and freaky looking." This fashion-magazine format for the New Testament is the perfect solution to that problem. Teen girls feel comfortable exploring the text in the New Century Version and over 500 further-study notes because of the relevant language and format!
Revolve is the new look for teen Bible publishing!
Note: This is not a joke, it is a real book that you can purchase.

What's wrong with people having religion and faith? They aren't forcing it down your neck.
Personally I think that it's a creative approach.
I think it'd sell better with more cleavage.

some of the reviews are rather interesting.
Just seems wierd to me that text from the bible would be on the same pages as dating advice and makup tips....

Two reviews sharing various opinions.
Girls it has finally arrived! A New Testament that every one of us Princesses have dreamed about but has never been reality! Gods opinion from the bible itself and also amazing advice on hundreds of questions that us girls long to ask, but don't dare utter are all jammed into REVOLVE.
At first glance, this New Testament looked like a funky, upbeat girls mag. When I saw it lying on my kitchen table, I thought "cool someone's left a mag behind for me to read!" Yet this was no ordinary magazine, - God's word printed on cool pages surrounded by 100+ ways to apply your faith, Guys honest comments on important issues that matter most to us girls. Who would have thought that quizzes, beauty secrets and radical faith questions and answers could become part of your quiet time, attract your friends to Christ and make reading your bible not only exciting, but oh so desirable! :-)
I have had so many bibles growing up, but I can say REVOLVE is a must, - its one bible you will want a bag big enough to carry it around in and your friends will buy it too the moment they see it. My friends have, - as they couldn't put mine down.
If you want to know what the Bible says, read it for yourself. When you let commercially motivated writers interpret the Bible for you, you leave yourself wide open for exploitation. What they are telling you is what women have been told for years to keep them in their place. This book is for the weak-minded.
It's a Bible for the Clay Aiken fans. If the bible is so important and great shouldn't it be viewed in it's standard unaltered form?
Isn't the whole bible itself an altered form though?

What's wrong with people having religion and faith?
Nothing.
I would say that if you have to resort to reading a version of the Bible like that one, your faith is questionable at best. That must be the Bible for the children of The Born Again Highlands Ranch yuppies. :)

I dont think that by just reading that kind of stuff means your faith is questionable. They are trying something new to try and give teens something more modern. Religion is a highly controversial topic to begin with and some people dont want to carry around a bible all day but still want to learn more about it. This gives them an alternative. I agree that the best way to hear what he has to say is to read the bible and not a magazine that can be twisted to what the editors want to get acoss. But if this gets more teenagers involved with religion and makes them want to find out more then in my opinion its a good thing. I do believe that if you are going to claim to be a christian, catholic, jewish, or what ever then you had better do research and know what you claim to be believing in. Newt2 you can kiss my ass. Im from highlands ranch.

Hmmm... that's a pretty neat approach and I think it's cool of them to do that, least they are trying to reach out to their future in ways they will enjoy it... (coming from a non-religionist)

I suppose I'd have to look at it in some detail to pass judgement, but I'm gonna have to agree with Newt on this one at first pass. If you need your religion spoon-fed to you in a way that feeds your lack of attention and focus, exploiting your weakness for fashion, it's not going to be a lasting impression, and unlikely to make much of a difference in your life.

I am not quite sure that it is bad that they have to change their ways to reach out to people, I just think it is bad that they do reach out to people. Coming from a non-religionist I think that religion is just crutches for weak people to stand on, the is no and never will be any Messiah. And as Stu puts it God is math, math doesn't pick the anwers, that's just what they have to be because of the nature of the existance, people always think that god makes conscious decesions, it just doesn't happen that way.
Dave_L

I strongly disagree with you Wyoteg. I dont believe that religion is crutches for weak people. It actually makes you a much stronger person in my opinion. Just like if you were struggling in life with something you would go to a good friend or someone and talk to them about it and it makes you feel better. They usually would listen and say the right things and make it easier for you to get through it. I am a christian. So i do have different beliefs than you. I believe that 99% of the time there aren't coincidences in life. If you take a deeper look at the way things happen then you might think there might be something bigger than you in this world. Im not trying to preach to you or anything. I just want to present the other side. There are some things in life that just dont make sense to me unless there was a God. I would recommend that you just read up on religions and find out some history behind them and see what they are about. You might be surprised. If you already have and still believe that there isnt a God then thats fine but if you havent even looked at religion in some sort of depth then its just ignorant to say there isnt a God. IMO.

I used to have very strong ties to the Lutheran church, but I reached the age of reason and no longer believe. IMHO religion is just some man's idea.

how many religions are there?
Hundreds? Thousands? Maybe even Millions (mass religions, like Budist, Hindu, Mormon, ect)
Only one can be right, correct?
So that means that for the fake religions (cough cough mormon cough) it was all about some bullshit douche bag that decived people for his own fucking profit.

If we avoid religion and abortion on this board then everything should be alright.
It's okay to argue those. I think it's healthy. It's also fun to see who obviously wasn't on the debate team in highschool. :p

I think personally it doesnt appeal to me being an old ass bastard. But if it helps a teenage kid follow his/heart and at the same time prevent being ridiculed for bringing his Bible to school its cool. On the other side of the coin as Newt stated if you are afraid of a little humiliation because of your beliefs and need to resort to a disguised, frosting coated version of the Bible your faith is suspect to begin with. Its not easy for new beleivers to jump in with that commitment though so marketing an otherwise "Weird and scary" book to NeWbi3s is a good thing. As long as its done right.

I am religious and consider myself a progressive christian. I do have a potty mouth but they are just words, and I rarely use them in a derrogative manor towards people. I feel I try to do the right things and trust in God/the Bible to provide me the things that I really need, Guidance, knowledge of right and wrong and a ositive attitude. I go to a non-denominational church and like that they talk the words of the bible, make it fun and do not preach to you what you should or should not do, drink or whatever other religions and churches are doing. I do not think it is a crutch but a manual on life. So is a Helms or any other car manual a crutch on how to fix a car. nayyy..
to each has there own and just because you dont believe doesn;t mean I dont like you either, I like almost everyone... and will continue living my life that way. If there was an atheist drowning and a christian drowning I would do my best to save the both of them. For all are God's creatures and should be treated that way, everyday.
Religion is cool. One time I was a caddy for the Dolly Lama. The lama was a serious driver. But he left with no tip. When I questioned him he said "when you die you will be blessed with total consciousness." So I guess I got that going for me, which is nice. No, seriously, there is nothing wrong with preaching religion. However, just as there is nothing wrong with preaching religion there is nothing wrong with making fun of it. Furthermore, I respect religious people it gives them direction in life in all circumstances and I envy that. I guess I try to be to logical to accept any of it. When religious people make fun of playboy this is the same as making fun of this shit.

There are a lot of religions in the world but if you really look at them they almost all have the same basic idea. That there is one supreme being in one form or another. The main differences come in when you look at how each religion says you get to heaven. They each differ on their beliefs of what you have to do or how you have to act to get there. I find religion to be very interesting bc of the diversity.

I'm not really sure why everyone in this post is bitching. I think that book is a good idea. Sometimes the bible is hard to understand and its just a way to help people understand it more and apply to the way life is now, not in the bible days.

I had a debate with somebody about this. She said that relegion was bad because there were so many wars because of it. Wars may have caused wars, but its only because it gives people a reason to live for and fight for. I mean, everyone has a right to believe in whatever they want, but to me, I can't imagine believing nothing happens after you die.
I think you got that wrong, without religion there would be no war. Basically all wars have been started because of religion.
Yeah, it sounds like your friend is pretty misguided.
