SO, in a few months, i will be getting out of college, and as opposed to spending the 30 grand on the new evo, i decided to save some of the cash and avoid the car payment, just building my 88 CRX. Im almost entirely set on a motor swap, the one i have has a ridiculous amount of mileage, which is only gonna get worse, so yeah.. B16A2? or that JDM B18? I have full intentions of boosting it, and probably running some nitrous on top of that mess, i figure ill have a lot of loose change to throw at it, so yeah. what to do?

I'd personally go with a B18C. More torque. If you want boost w/o the build, B17A would be a good candidate as it's stock compression is 9.6:1 but most that you'll find have high mileage.

I should know this but what is the b17a out of? If I had another CRX I would probably go with a ZC.... its very inexpensive and very streetable... but the B16 and b18s are both nice engines

I've been hearing that B20s have a lot of torque and when you boost them they will put up some good #

B17A is out of the 93-93 GSR. It's sort of a bastard vtec engine but very good numbers from that low a compression.
Yes, B20s yield pretty good numbers w/ boost as well.

Personally I would also go with the B18C. It is a little more money to start off but a better platform to build on. It also can be found with less than a million miles. Unlike ZCs and B17s.

If you had the b16a2 you would never have trouble finding parts. I think theres more parts for the 99-00 si than any other honda yet. all sorts of turbo and supercharger kits...

99% of those B16 parts fit B18s too. ZC parts are getting harder and harder to find. Not much market for them .

B20's make good numbers, but thats usually when they are sleeved and built. Stock sleeves are pretty weak on these motors and can't handle a lot of boost.
