alternator problems

I have a 93 honda civic dx, and a couple of days of ago i was drive on it pretty hard on the highway. Once i got to the surface streets i notice my dash lights were getting dim and the battery light in the dash went on. I'm thinkng its the alternater that got fried, i want place it myself, it seen like a striaght forward process, but dont know where to start or if it the alternator itself that broken. Any insight could help or the process in replace an alternator. Thanx

Check your connections, first. Could be oxidized to the point where the contact is bad.

Go to any auto parts store and have them test it on the car. It could actually be your battery going weak.

it most likely is not the battery if it got dim while the car is running ... if you have a good alternator the car will run with out a battery ... but I would still take it to vatozone to have your alternator and battery tested.

If the battery light is on most likely it is your alternator.
Have it tested.

how many miles on the car?
i had an alternator problem in a 86 civic where the alt went out. turned out it was just the brushes. i got a replacement set and installed them and never had any more problems.
cost a few bucks for the parts.

I was driving my crx the other day I get into my crx and it wont start I charge it up and it is fine later on that day the charge light appears then the next day comes I get into my crx and drive it with the charge light on any ways it dies on me I call someone to give me a jump so I get jumped I then drive about 2 miles home my car dies as I get half way down my home street then I charge the battery again it starts up and has for a few days now but I havnt drove no where so what do u think seems to be the problem guys? Cant be sure without testing but it sounds like your alternator is going bad. Also it looks like the automatic punctuation installer on your computer may be going bad also. ;)
