View Full Version : Question on a possible N/A Build?

Tobi,
Was curious if you know much about the b20a block series... as far as how it would react to an N/A build - with 10.5:1 pistons, lightweight rods, port/polishing, slight shaving of the head, along with the fuel management to assist it there? What would be a believable ballpark as far as power outcome out of it?

probably nomore than 200 with a big budget. Parts are hard to get so most of them will need to be custom made. Cams are non existant. Not to mention the bottom end is weak. IMHO its not worth the effort.

Yea, that's what I was thinking, I just wanted to get your thoughts on it and see. Thanks. :)

 I'm not too big a fan of nitrous to be honest... if I do anything with this motor, it'll be boost. ;)

Nitrous is considered boost lol. I want a run at your car stock for stock. Then later boost against boost.

Nitrous is considered force induction - yes. :)
And yea - I think our cars will be dead even stock... boost is a different story, seeing how each motor would react. Car-Stats shows my car being .2 seconds faster in 0-60, with an even quarter. :)

I dont think N20 is boost. It wont show up on a boost gauge. One may have an argument that it is forced induction because it is "induced" into the intake manifold by bottle pressure that forces it in. But definatly not boost.
Ill just stick with the term "SPRAY" or "JUICED" to avoid any confusion.

Yea, I don't consider N2O boost either.
As far as technicality - I think it can definitely be considered forced induction. Yea, I pretty much call it juice.

Hrmm, people around me have always called it boost. But oh well.

Nah, I am not gonna do an N/A build just because of the bastard b20a. :D

Hey Tobi, I am also curious about how much it would be to do a rebuild on the b20a5 in my car with just stock parts...? I've heard some horrible stories on the JDM motors, and it might be easier, cheaper, and more reliable in the long run to just have it rebuilt? What exactly would this consist of for the rebuild?

To R&R the engine tear down and inspect would be about $500, Teh rebuild price depends on what is found at that point. Parts, machine work and labor an a top to bottom rbuild range anywhere from $1800-$2600 for a Honda depending on what all is needed.
