View Full Version : oil leak
All around my motor where the head meets the block, you can see that oil has been seeping out and leaving residue on the head. Is this an easy problem to mend? I want to believe that it is just that little rubber seal, but I saw you put it on correctly. This wouldn't be a head gasket problem would it?

Where the head meets the block or where the head meets the valve cover?
I guess where the head meets the valve cover.

Sometimes they leak. I can try a new gasket.

I had that problem on my D16. I replaced the valve cover gasket and it fixed the problem.

Alrighty then. lol
Hmm, Maybe I should try that. Someone was trying to tell me to get an inline pro head gasket or something. I think it's the one that lowers compression. What do you think of that Tobi? Aren't they like $100. Plus the cost of the installation?

I think you just need a valve cover gasket, not a head gasket.
Right, but I'm turbocharging my car.

You dont want to put a new headgasket on a car with your mileage. Youre asking for a bottom end failure.
Thanks Tobi, I knew you were good for something. How about this question, Is 200whp too much to shoot for?

When you take an engine that has gone through its break in stage fro over ten years and for well over 100k miles, then go and freshen up one part of it, the rest of the parts get jealous and want to fail too. Ive seen too many mechanics replace just a headgasket for a leak only to have the car come bac smoking a week or a month later. The rings cannot handle the extra pressure caused by either milling the head, or a fresh valve job.
