I'm getting a misfire at 4-5k up to red line. It's seems to be mostly missing, but every now and then I get a little detonation. I've listed my set up below, and I have plenty of fuel, and spark, but I don't know why. My spark plugs are gapped at .038 in. and I have my btm set for 1 degree for every 1 psi. Even if I retard it more, it doesn't do anything to help. I can't figure it out, where should I start trouble shooting? Are my intake temps getting too hot with only 8psi(actually 6-7psi)? With your set up, did you get any detonation at higher rpm, I know your runnin 9psi up here, but you also have a cooling agent.
I got a 89 crx d16a6 w/ jrsc at 8psi. 9.5:1 comp., .020 over, gude p&p head, gude throttle body,msd 6al, msd btm, msd cap+coil, nology wires, 450cc mitsu injectors, safc.

How old are your plug wires? Are you using stock heat range plugs?

Start looking for worn or old ignition parts. I never had any detonation problems, and I dont use a "cooling agent"

if you still dont find anything you may consider having it tuned to see if your AF is correct. But Im willing to bet your plugs, wires, cap,or rotor is the problem.

Ack - I just realized that I posted in Ghandis corner. Sorry Tobi. :)

don't you use nitrous to cool the air? Plugs all look good, wires are fairly new, cap and rotor don't really show any abnormal wear. What do you charge to dyno tune a safc? About how many hours will be needed?

No N2O for me. yet.

SAFCs take about an hour to tune, @ $150/Hr.

No sweat john, you were right on anyway.
