I'm thinking of buying a cheap 89 or 90 Civic Hatch with a B16 swap. Problem is its got a bad tranny. Now I'm buying it to make some money off of reselling it, so how hard is it to remove? Is it just a bolt off bolt on procedure? Anything I need to look for? Oh, and how heavy is it? Could two guys do it? I'd really like to have me and my friend do it to save me as much money as possible. Thanks.

hell yeah. Removing a tranny is pretty easy, it just takes some time and the right tools (like impact wrenches).

if you know how to be getto you dont even need impact wrenches... but they really arent that heavy and arent very hard to replace

I can do them by myself. Not hard.

It really depends on your skill level and your tool inventory. For some a tranny replacement is easy adn only takes an our or two., for others Ive seen it take them a few days. So to answer your question, for me its easy. For you Im not sure. the trans weighs about 65 lbs. I swap them without a partner.

Well my friend has swapped his AWD tranny for a FWD tranny and back a few times, so he's pretty good with that stuff. And we should have jst about any tool we could need, so this is looking good. Anybody got any scanned Honda manuals on the procedure so that I see it without buying a manual. I'm cheap.

If he's done AWD to FWD swaps and such he shouldn't need a manual. If you need torque specs just call a dealer or go to vatozone and look in their book and write them down.

Actually Tobi is much quicker on the clutches than me I'm sure. But I only did it once on an SI. I think it took us a good while, maybe 16 hours LOL, but next time it will take less than half that I'm sure. If only we had a lift!
