Some jack hole tried to steal my GSR last night. Didn't get very far, cause they set off the alarm once they got under the hood. Read something earlier about re-routing the hood release cable so it's not so accessible. Anyone ever done this? How hard is it? I assume I'll have to remove some body work.

It basically goes on the inside of the wheel fender, you shouldn't have to take anything serious off, like a fender, just the plastic covering. I've yet to do it, but I'm sure Weston could help you figure it out.

I think it'd be easier to reroute the cable after you pull the fender out. I'm in the process of replacing my fender so I'll post an update after I do so. Prolly on Saturday.

Just pisses me off having to deal with this kinda thing in the first place. My car's been busted into twice in 1 year's time now. Once by a pro, once last night by an amateur f!ckwad. Guess it's a good thing I forked out good cash for a nice alarm that has kept the car in the lot! Had a great idea today though. I was thinking of letting the hood release cable be nice and accessible in the wheel well, but charge it via a spare battery in the trunk. That way, I can find the beATCH that tried to steal my car, unconscious on the ground next to my car so I can start kicking him in his ding ding!

Here is a better idea. When you re-route you hood cable put another cable in there with razor sharp edges, so they get fucked up when they pull on it. Use something similar to what is used in jail with razor edges or barbwire.

A lot of the time when I pop my hood, I do it from inside the car. If they want to risk it they will just smash your window and pop it, and look for the siren and cut that providing you have an alarm. Rerouting the release cable is only a temp solution.

To reroute the hood cable, you disconnect it at the lever, pull it back all the way up to the latch, then run it through the engine bay and firewall (use the hole for the wires) back to the lever.

There's an article on Team-Integra.net about how to do it, but there's no need to remove the "dead pedal" and you can run the cable through the firewall with the wires rather than drilling a new hole for it.

I took my driver's side fender out today and it looks very easy to re-route.

Some bad news, one of my homeboy got his ride jacked in Aurora on Monday night-Tuesday morning. He had a 2000 Red Civic Si, with BUDDY CLUB BODY KIT, Greddy Evo, a custom system. Bastard took his sh*t from his driveway and they scrapped his kit and exhaust, cause his drive way is on a steep hill! Anywys, they found it Friday, last week, stripped all the way to the FRAME! No engine, fender, seats, system....well u know the rest. They left it outside a park from CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL. I bet those B*atches selling his shizznit on Ebay. He had a Clutch-lock, but he didn't even used it! WTF. Safer bet get the autolock pro, sh*t from TV. I haven't heard anyone broke into that shizznit!

WTF are you talking about? Does he chain his car to a tree?

If you have ever seen a repo take place, they do it in seconds. Parking brake and be up and in gear and it can still get stolen.

Yup, for instance my Bonneville that got stolen last year, wheels turned, parking brake on, carin Park, still got taken with a tow truck. And no it wasn't repoed.

I have a honda civic 2000 with a factory honda car alarm. I put a viper lcd instead on the honda one to try to deter theives, thinking that they would be fooled into thinking i indeed did have a viper alarm instead of a factory car alarm. I also put viper stickes on the window. I took the face off my pioneer stereo too.

Last night it was broken into by clipping the hood release cable from the right wheel well. They then cut the ground wire on the battery preventing the alarm from going off for more than one beep. They only took my stereo, without the face. I had the face tucked in between the seats, IDIOTS!

The only thing that prevented my car from being stolen completely is the autolock pro. It is the Club bar that goes on your brake lever. They tried to loosen it but were unable to.

Since the hood release cable was cut i couldnt open the hood. But (and this is the important part) i was able to open it fairly easily with a kitchen knife.

Even if you re-route the cable if a theif wants to get under your hood he will.

I have heard of hood locks that go right on the lever. Does anyone have any experiences with these?

Im working on a new set up that will be cost effective, simple to install, easy to hide and no one will ever know how to turn it on to get your car started except the owner and installer of our product. PM me for more details! Right now were currently making it available to honda/acura vehicles. We will be looking for people who are willing to allow us to use there vehicles for testing. Like subaru, mitshubishi, nissan ect. Thanks

They make hood pins that serve as locks why not just use those? I have alarms locked gate and a .45 under the pillow. I feel its my ride if I dump a clip of shells into it I will still have it. I would just have to clean up the blood!
