(try this if u have some time to kill)
Work this out as you read.
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!
This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.


1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would
like to have dinner out. (try for more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)

3. Add 5. (for Sunday)

4. Multiply it by 50 - calculator.........???

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1753....
If you haven't, add 1752..........

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
Now, You should have a three digit number ...

The first digit of this was your original number (i.e., how many
times you want to eat out each week.)

The next two numbers are YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it IS!!!!!)
THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2003) IT WILL EVER WORK!!!

I got to #5 in my head, but then I was off by 3, but I'm still impressed. I used the magic rule of multipling by 11's. That makes it soooo much easier.

If you write it into an expression where x= the 1st number you chose and y is the year you were born, you get:

(((x*2)+5)* 50) + 1753 -y

if you simplify that you get 100*x+2003-y
That means that 100 times the first number you chose (which then puts it in the 3rd spot, ie 7*100=700) and then add to it 2003- the year you were born (which is your age if you were born this year) you get the final result, so in our case if our age was 21, then it would be 700+21=721, which is the first digit as the one you chose first, and then our age.

And it works for any year, you just have to change the 1753 paramater to something else.

EDIT: To help simplify, you can see that 50*2*x is going to give you 100x, that's where that came from. The 5*50=250, which is added to the 1753, which gives you 2003.

HEy Dr.Jones...do you know how that "crystal ball" works? The one where you get a # and it'll show the shape...I know it's math problem but I never fully understood it.
