I'm planning on replacing the head gasket on my 94 civic D16z6. Are there any special tools that are required? Where can I get a head gasket and how much do they usually cost? Is this a one or two man job? Thanks

there is an updated gasket available form Honda. It is a steel gasket and is made to eliminate the crappy fiber one they used to use. They are about $60 at the dealer and require 10 new head bolts. You can do it withone person but if you are not experienced at honda headgaskets I reccomend getting help or having a qualified tech do the work (me).
You will definatly need a torque wrench, air tools are better but you can still do the job without them. You will need something to clean teh head and block surfaces completly, if they are the slightest bit dirty teh new headgasket wont seal. Hope this helps.

How much do you charge Honda Ghandi? I was planning on changing it this weekend.

Definately let a prfoessional change a headgasket, unless you have already done it before. My friend had his done and the shop couldn't get his car to start for a week. So many things can go wrong when doing internal engine work like that.

i did my headgasket myself and ive never done it before. Its not all that hard to do, but just go by what the book says and go in order of how they should be loosened and tightened.

I think I'd prefer Honda Ghandi to do it because I'm to busy with school and upcoming exams. Hey Honda, can you PM me a qoute of labor and materials. Thanks
