View Full Version : Vortech SC
Anyone have one installed on a B series or an S2k? How do they perform and how are they mounted?

Oracle (jon) has one on his S2000. He has 322 RWHP so around a 120HP increase to the rear wheels.
Very clean setup too.

Here's a pic of it on a B series:

so the pulley side is like a plate mounted onto the valve cover...i see...I'd have to take a look at one up close sometime...

looks pretty sweet but i would much rather have turbo (on a b series anyways) :)
that's why i'd rather go with the vortech since it's a centrifugal...a turbo driven by belt :D

it's still a non-fixed displacement blower. meaning it does not flow a constant amount of air per revolution so you will a slight delay before you actually start seeing manifold pressure.
And because it is belt driven you have parasitic drag.
worst of both worlds. IMO

Alright, lets not have another supercharger vs turbo war. But from the looks of it, it seems as if the supercharger sat inside there quite nicely.

That'd be awesome if you do it. When are your estimated dates for this?
I'm shooting a debut with it running smooth and broken in at the first import race up at bandimere in 2004. I've contacted vortech about the interest, but have yet to hear from them. since they don't make a kit for what i need, i'll have to custom mount the entire thing...chances are i'll buy the s2k kit with an upgraded charger (i really like the V2 SQ E-Trim blower)

How much do you think the whole thing is going to cost you?

Are the Vortech's a variable speed boost where you can change how much boost you have?
