So I was looking around for some fuel pumps when I came along some fuel pressure regulators. Now are these things necessary and do they actually work?

yes.

Every fuel injection system has one AFAIK.

with the exception of returnless fuel systems. which are getting popular now.

I still don't get it.

don't get what, fuel pressure regulators regulate fuel pressure, I'm not sure I understand your question

well are there aftermarket ones and are they useful. It seems as if most cars come with them now...

fuel pressure regulators restrict the flow of the fuel on the return line. Therefore, increasing(or decreasing) the pressure in the fuel rail which means when the injectors open, they will spray more(or less) fuel at a given pulse width.

yeah, there are aftermarket regulators, even adjustable ones, and in my opinion they are very useful for adjusting the amount of fuel supplied to the engine

Alright, so $90 for one is worth it? Because I'm looking for stuff to boost my car

yeah, it's worth it if it's adjustable, plus you might want to invest in an air/fuel ratio guage

I know where you are going with this. An FPR is just like ANY other mod you can do with your car. Think of it as a 3" exhaust. If your car is stock, or fairly close to stock, all a 3" exhaust is going to do for you is create noise. You don't really have enough exhaust to justify a 3" pipe.

It's the same thing as with a FPR. The way your car is set-up now, a FPR won't really do anything for you. Sure it will be adjustable, but what for? Now, I know that you want to go turbo. If that is why you are asking, then yes, get a FPR because you will definitely use it when your car is turbocharged, but if you are just looking for cheap performance enhancers for a near stock car, this will just be a waste of your money.

It depends on how you are planning on adjusting your a/f curve. With the stock fuel pressure, properly sized injectors, and something to control the injectors (VAFC, hondata, AEM, SMC) you can have a good a/f curve without messing with increased fuel pressures.

There are formulas for figuring out what size injectors you use.

my 2 cents

Well I have the turbo. I'm just looking for all the other parts now. Just ordered a 255lph walbro fuel pump. Also looking for an intercooler and piping

talk to mark about the intercooler and piping.
