I was there, but I didn't race (due to god-damned fucking FedEx dicking around and not getting a part to me when they were supposed to :x ).
It looked like a really nice course too. :(

yeah, I saw your car, Weston. I was there, and my roomate (saabracr), and my friends dad (the guy with the v8 triumph that got a noise violation DNF :D )
The course was really wide open and fast, which is why I got dead last in STS :o Unhealthy vx power owns me
It was pretty fun though.
I was in a a '92 white civic hatch. STS #92.

its my friend's dads. It started out as a triumph, but theres probably not a single part of it thats still triumph any more. The entire suspension has been replaced with custom built intdependent susp, it has koni full race coilovers, the body is all fiberglass/non-reinforced sheet metal. It has a buick small block V8 instead of the triumph 4-banger. Pretty sweet, although a little ghetto.

I was there, but only saw heat 4 because I had alot of shit to do. My car still sucks, so I wasn't able to race. It did look like a sweet course though.

Did anyone who was there see how the multi-color riced out turbo Neon did? It's a pretty hard car to miss...

If you meant Levi Wait's flamed and winged SM car, he ended up 5th with a best time of 46.113. That car surprises a lot of people, autocross and at Bandimere . . .

btw white_and_slow, good to see you out - sorry I didn't introduce myself. I was busy trying (unsuccessfully) not to get beat by Jesse (white 4th gen Civic hatch) and Ryan (silver last gen Prelude).
Don't worry about your VX power - here's what matters in autocross (in order of importance).

I was there too, getting spanked in STS as usual.;RoCkOn;
It's interesting that everyone loved the course so much. I thought it was a nice departure from the typical Coors "zig-zag, U-turn, repeat" courses, but I admit I got myself confused at several spots.
Nothing that can't be ironed out by a better course walk, I showed a little late and the lack of course map had me lost even while walking.
I guess I was just running a little slow that day.
That friggin Neon is nuts, he was parked next to me while I was prepping my car. You guys know how long he's had that turbo on there? I don't seem to remember it at the last time I saw that car. Sure handles on rails too. I noticed he had IDRC stickers on there, anyone know what it does for the 1/4?
That black PFIspeed civic impressed me quite a lot too, although it looked like the powerband was about 2-300rpm wide...not to mention the front wheels moving to and fro in the wheel wells when the boost came on!
I have to introduce myself to you guys next time!
(hell I probably talked to a few of you and didn't even know it)

I think you borrowed my duct tape ;o)
Damn that was a fun course, I want to see more where I can hit 60+mph! Are the ones at World Arena more open than Coors Field?

Yeah, you're right, thanks for the duct tape! I was scoping out your motor later on while we were waiting to be teched- I always thought the Saabs used a transverse layout, but low and behold, your motor is in the correct way! Learn something new every day. (A friend of mine's 9000 has the dang thing in there sideways though, I guess they really like to change things up, eh?)
World Arena is most definitely more wide open than coors. More like a big square (well, two actually), compared to a big rectangle. I regularly bang off my rev limiter in second at WA, didn't hit it once the other day at Coors.

Thanks Hsunchen, I was talking about Levi.
He's had the turbo on there for maybe 3 months now. I think it is actually less time, but I can't remember off the top of my head.
His best in the quarter is 13.9. Having seen it run, I'm sure it's capable of mid to low 13's. Last time he ran it the suspension was still set up for AutoX, not too great for drag racing...
The best part about the car is that he has about $2100 invested into that car, the car itself included  And the flame job was done in about 3 hours with masking tape and spray paint in front of my boss' warehouse :D

Keep in mind the definition of SCCA Solo2 autocross events says that speeds encountered on course are limited to "in the 60's," and that risk levels consequently are no higher than they are driving on the street.
But to answer your question, yes, the World Arena events tend to have larger radius sweeping turns since the lot is more square. But maximum speeds will remain roughly the same.
If you want to go faster with the accompanying risks, look into Second Creek test days, or the last solo trials event of the year on Nov. 2nd (http://rmsolo.org/trials.html). You can easily hit 85 mph+ on the front and back straights even without a high-powered car. This is not open to 1st timers (for good reason) - 4 solo events are required before being eligible to run solo trials.

STS 61
gray/purple Integra GSR sedan Thanks. Yeah, I'm not that worried... I've done better on a tighter course, but I'm still definitely in the learning stage... I'm actually gonna be in SM next year, so I have to get used to being owned. :o
oh well, slowly but surely.

I don't see why not. David(white n slow) and I are planning on running. Hope to see everyone there. Even if we have to get up butt-ass early and drive a long way.

YES. All rmsolo events are open to the public, as long as it is not a Divisional event (which Oct. 19 is not), meaning it is open to SCCA members only. The intention is that Divisional events are qualifiers for going to the National level competition in Topeka, KS.
Keep in mind you must preregister online for the event, and request a class # online as well. Understand that you don't have to pay when you preregister, so you're not 100% commited, but it gives the event organizers a rough idea of how many drivers there will be.
When you show up, you will have to confirm your preregistation and pay (if you miss the cutoff for this by more than 2-3 minutes you won't run).
You must also present a valid driver's license. You cannot drive if your car has bald/damaged tires (showing cord, sidewall damage), excessive wear and play in your steering joints, or the battery is not secured properly.
I don't want to discourage you from running, just letting you know that when over 200 drivers want to run in a short day (with the sun going down earlier now) rules and organization make things work.
Safety regs are a must since you will be working on course near speeding cars - would you want an unsafe car endangering your life?
Lastly, since we've been getting a lot of heat for noise complaints, your car must not exceed the 93 dB A-weighted limit. If in doubt, bring the silencer or steel wool, a metal screen, and a big hose clamp to make a temporary silencer for your exhaust, or you may not get all three of your runs.
