When looking for either strut tower bars or anit-sway bars is "brand" of major importance?
I want something that looks good and works, but doesn't have me eating sack lunchs for a year.
I think not so much for strut bars, but I'd say yes for anit-sways.

Strut bars are pretty much all the same as long as they look the same and sometimes even when they don't.
Sway bars are another story. They act as a spring, so size, shape, and how it mounts are much more important. You also have to worry about tearout. So it's wise to do some research before you buy anything and make sure that there isn't an issue with tearout. Some quality brands do have that problem.

Hey Weston, what is tearout? I'll be looking for swaybars here soon...
Tear out is when you get a sway bar that is too stiff for what your cars mounting area was designed for, so when you are cornering, it puts so much strain on the mounting locations that it literally rips the bolt right out and makes a hole. I guess a lot of people were getting this when they'd use a Type R sway bar on GSR/LS. But all you have to do is reinforce the mounting location. The two main sellers Beaks (or something) and some other guy had a little kit that took care of the problem.

For sways, I prefer ST or Neuspeed. For strut bars, pretty much anything works, but I've always liked Cusco, Skunk2, and Neuspeed

I got some cheap strut bars off of ebay and they work well. I was a little dubious, but they were so cheap I figured I'd give them a shot. I had to do a little work with a drill and a dremel to get them to fit, and some of the welds on the end brackets are far from the best work I've seen, but despite the workmanship, the materials are correct for the application (steel and 6061 aluminum) and they did make a noticable difference in the handling. Hard cornering is more predictable and steering response is improved. I don't know if a better set would significantly improve things.
