My friend is going to give me the turbo off his old car that got totalled from the rear. But I wasn't sure if you could take stock turbos from a car and put them on another car. Is this possible? It's a mx-6 to my 91 integ.

yea you can do that. What size is the turbo? You're gonna need more than you think. You'll need a B series manifold, downpipe, oil lines, piping, intercooler, fuel management, etc. There is probably more i just cant think right now...

I have that same turbo, it's from a Probe. One thing that I don't think that you realize is that you should always rebuild used turbos, and that will cost you like $300. Also, since it's not a T3 style flange, you will also have to get a custom manifold made, which is going to cost you even more money. It'd probably save you time, effort, and money to just get a freshly rebuilt t3 from someone else.

Also, I hear that the Probe turbos aren't very effiecent at all.

Oh wow....How much would a rebuilt t3 cost? And I don't know the size right now, we're going to the junkyard to get it today. and it's a 87 mx-6. Did you already put it in your car stu? Because I just need something to pull me out of the 17s lol. 95gsr, how much would all that stuff cost? Would it be better for me to just get a kit or somethign?

I never put that turbo in my car, and never will. The problem that you don't realize, is that with a turbo set-up, every other part is just as important as the turbo is, so while you are trying to save money on a turbo, you don't realize that you are going to end up spending all kinds of money on all the other stuff. So you have to ask yourself, "Why am I spending all this money on all the other components of a turbo kit, then buying such a crap-ass turbo? Because that's exactly what you are doing. At first, the turbo will be free, but then you'll have to pay TEC to rebuild it (like $300++) then you'll have to pay more for a custom manifold. I seriously wouldn't even bother.

Oh ok. Well thanks for all the help, those were pretty fast responses. Now to save up about $2000 or so for a real turbo I guess. Are you going to go FI at all stu?

I've got a T3 manifold, an intercooler (kinda), an MBC, and an A/F guage already. My next main purchase is the actual turbo itself, then it should all be pretty down hill from there, especially after the fuel management stuff.

i agree. You're better off just buying a real kit or one that someone has already put together. Check out ebay.

I don't trust ebay for anything over like $300. Because they begin to leave out details and things like that.
