i dont think that they made the VTEC prelude in 1992, correct me if im wrong tho. Well, you can get alot of stuff for it. Are you looking to go all-motor or forced induction down the road? What are your plans?? And what kinda budget are you looking at here?
Give us some more info and we might be able to help you a little more.....

u r right. the vtec was put in it. i was mainly lookin 4 forced induction. however, it has over 180k miles on it. should i overhaul the engine or replace it before upgrading? my budget right now is really low. my job cut my hours and i started school.

well if u said the VTEC motor was put in then i highly doubt it has 180K. Do you mean that the chassis has 180K? If you are looking for forced induction, are you looking to go turbo, supercharger, nitrous?? A turbo kit will cost about $3000, same with the supercharger and you can get a good nitrous setup for about $500.

i think the chassis has it. i already know about turbos and nos. i'm looking for any little part that could boost my performance and i am also looking for a good exhaust system
There are no little parts that really boost performance, it's not a Mustang. Unless of course you are talking about suspension.

you could always get stickers! just kidding. ummm little parts? Just go with the basic I/H/E then get FI.

Shame on you, printer boy:(. You have been here long enough to know that if you buy a header, then you have to take it off for a turbo. Unless he want's a super charger, which he shouldn't.

it all just depends on how much money you have to spend.....

what kind of suspension should i get? i was thinking about $7000 on performance. will that do or do i have to break out some more money? what do u mean upgrade my fuel?

if you are going turbo then your obviously getting more air so you need will need to have more fuel to get to the motor. If you have "$7000" to spend then i would be looking for a good turbo kit and say fuck the I/H/E. As for the suspension, it depends on if you want a full race coilover supspension or just drop springs with upgraded shocks. Most people just go for Lowering springs with some nice Tokico or KYB shocks. Its really what you want tho...

Why not just put that as a down payment on a brand new car that will perform better and have a warranty? $7000 is a lot to put into a 11 year old car with almost 200,000 miles on it.

he said little parts first...:(
And now since you have $7000, just build up your engine and then boost it like mad.

Because not everyone feels like having a major loan and paying out the ass for insurance. Why sit there and pay hundreds of dollars a month for a new car that is rapidly decreasing in value, while your warranty expires and people are starting to sell them USED for less than what you still owe on it.

ummm, if he put that $7,000 into mods then his car would be twice as fast as an expensive car and he wont have to pay out the ass every month for it.

I have to disagree with this. I'd agree if he had a $500 down payment, but we're talking $7,000 here. If he wanted to buy a new SRT-4 Neoon with it, he'd almost pay for half of the car just with the down payment. Even with a $30,000 car, a $7,000 down payment would be substantial. You bring up the point that people could get a used one for less than what you owe, but that's only if you didn't have a $7,000 down payment. We have to assume that he would shop smart with his money and not be immediatly upside down when you pull off the lot. This just wouldn't happen with a $20,000 car.

Yeah, but who in the right mind wants a Neon??? Hey, it may be a fast little fucking car ... but it is still afterall a NEON. I drove one, and hated it.
I drove one too and I liked it. I got to race mine around a little autocross track, when did you drive one?

If I were you and I had $7K to spend on a Prelude I would first pay off my tuition, then spend the rest on a fat party in Vegas. If there was any left after that I would use it on a down payment + trade in of my prelude for an RSX or maybe an Sti. My $.02
On second thought give me all of your money and ill put a turbo and NOS on your car. :p

I got a 93 prelude with the jdm h22 motor in it that i think is the best way to get some good power. Its got about 220 hp with a cold air intake, vtec controler, header, full exhaust, adjustables cam gears and eibach springs. If you really want to take a serious look at the h22 swap check out HMO.com or call HONDAMENDERS at303-733-4544 they will get you the motor and install it too just ask for a price.

I'd have to agree with Tobi. Preludes are fun cars but they are just too heavy.

Yea, 220hp... at the crank. You are maybe making 170-175whp if you are lucky.
Anways, I would like at other nitrous companies other than NOS... ZEX has good kits too.
If you have $7,000 to put into performance - I would build up the internals (first $4k), and then turbo it (last $3k). :)

buy the juice, smoke 90% of the cars on the streets you come across, and still have $6500 cash in your pocket to go wild with.
i suggest spending it on hookers and booze, but that's just me.
maybe some cock fights, but that's only if you have some after the ladies.
