I currently own a 4th gen accord (1994) with a completly stock engine. I want to go turbo, but i have an ungodly amount of miles on the car. If anyone could tell me the best steps to take in order to make sure i don't fry my head gasket, piston rings and much more.. I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm going to say what everyone else in the world says ... swap the motor.
If you do not want to and you insist on being lame like Scott (exciv2000), hehe ... get the motor rebuilt and upgrade the seals, pistons, and rings before you boost it.

I was thinking that the swap would be the more effective way to go. do you think the H22 is better though? i know it is much more common in accords, and more powerful then the F20b, but i have heard of a lot of oversteer complaints coming from the H22a

It's heavy, but the Accord can handle it. You just need a beefier suspension.

You will get the oversteer on a civic but not on the accord. Accord were made for H22

They weren't "made" for the Accord parsay...they were just built big enough to house it. With the exception of the suspension of course which was not built to handle the added wieght for extended periods of time.

Actually there was an accord in japan that came with the H22a type s engine. I think it was called Accord SIR

I would definately recommend the h22 swap, the power difference between the two motors is more than worth it. In that generation accord it will pretty much bolt right in as well.

Accords don't need any susp. mods to handle an h22a.. my friend had an h22a Accord, with H&R Springs and Tokico Blues, and it rode awesome.
My lude has 176k and I'll be turbo'ing and it'll be my driver car too... just keep the fuel up, don't boost much (more than 6psi for street is unneeded), and make sure you just keep on eye on shit.
ehh...i seen h22 accords and you prolly won't be pleased...but then again...it's prolly because of the weight of the car and not the motor.
prelude97: ehh...i'd prefer the dohc vtec h23a from the accord euro-r's.

I thought 94-97 were 5G?
Here's a sweet 4G:

Way back in the IRC days, Justin claimed the bottom end was stock while the head was reworked by Sneak from CHD Racing.

Wassup buddy :) Fully tuned, no, spraying, yes. Hope to get a hondata over the winter. Best on 25 shot was 15.35 up here so far, and I know it has more in it with a better 60 footer and a *gasp* 35 shot :D

just boost the f22 till it blows and then build it..... you can boost it cheap... you can use a DSM manifold just by sloting a couple of exhaust stud holes ... then pick up a DSM turbo.... but dont forget your fuel upgrades

You won't find a stock Accord with an H22 HERE. The American Accords have completely different setups than the Japanese versions.

Hehehe, d00d...H&R springs and Tokico blues are considered suspension mods. ;)
Any car can handle the wieght on stock suspension, but it will run your struts into the ground if you don't front something to support it's wieght. Sure you can put an H22 in your Accord without upgrading the suspension, but the life of the suspension will be cut in about a third. Anyone who actually cares about their cars health would upgrade the suspension when they swapped to a heavier motor anyways. :)

My bad Thrice you are right.

I know springs and struts are suspension mods... but I am saying even with the mods, it rode good... I know for an h22a swap into a Civic just springs and struts won't fix the heavier weight up front. :)

i say you should slow it down a little...definitely swap the engines but start out with like an air intake or something a little less drastic. remember, shop around

Nope, you seem to be under the impression that all the parts on the market will together with each other, this couldn't be further from the truth. If he's stock, and wants to go turbo, there would be absolutely no point in wasting his money on a CAI.

I aggree with that but some people like the car they have and wanna make it go fast .... was just providing a cheap solution to his boost needs

Nitrous would work. I put a 50 shot wet system in my '89 Accord when it had 183k miles. Took the nitrous off at 223k when I traded the car in. Ran fine the whole time.
