what does the N-ter cooler do and how does it work?

It sprays nitrous on the intercooler which decreases the charge's temp dramatically. You can even charge it with C02 which is a LOT cheaper and has pretty much the same effect. It mounts in front of the intercooler, not too stealth if you're trying to keep your mods on the DL.

not sure the weight of the bottle would be worth the HP gains.....

if you are going to do one make your own. Just get a CO2 tank for a paintball gun, get creative with the jet and some button thing.

but your gains will be pretty decent if you have a small intercooler running a lot of boost.

it says you get about a 50 hp gain but i couldnt see that happening....i guess it does haha.what do i konw?ha.hmmmm.....anyone make theyre own before?if so what did you use for a jet?also can the nitrous bottle be used for co2?

It is. The guys at DynoPro said they had a car in there on the dyno playing around with one...40hp to the wheels. Good stuff. :)

i would just use a 20oz paintball gun bottle. Which i have, but i dont have the slightest clue on how to make it spray onto my intercooler from the cockpit.

Anyone know of a site that shows you how to make one?

Believe me, you will at least need a 5lb bottle. I made a co2 kit 2 weeks ago, and the 5lb bottle only lasts for about 5 or 6 10-15 second sprays.

Also, you have to turn the bottle upside down to get the freezing liquid out of it. Otherwise you just get air.

you should look into propane injection instead... everybody that I talked to says it eliminates knock really well by drasticly droping the intake temps

You can build your own kit pretty cheap

1 large propane tank (you could do multiple small ones if you want but they just don't hold good pressure)
NPT to AN fittings for braided line
Braided line
$100 solenoid
$8 Relay (if you want it to flip on automatically)
$35 or so for the brass fittings
$60 or so for the pressure gauge and regulator
spray nozzle (you can buy them from NOS/ZEX)
AN Fittings for everything

you're looking at about $300 or so total cost max with the tank

you can also set it up so it kicks in at a certain boost level

your right except that the propane doesn't drop the intake temp much. The reason it helps with knock is because it has a very high octain.

Regarding back to the n-ter cooler kit, I have an issue of turbo magazine where the dynoed the kit on a buick grand national and got around 20whp.

hmmm a charge of gas at -40 F wouldnt cool the intake charge much?? but yes you are right about the high octain as well

Why Propane?
Very High Octane Rating of 110+
Lower Intake Charge temps-Leaves bottle at -40 degrees
Allows You To Run Higher Boost Levels Without Detonation
Very Cost effective. One $2.50 Propane Tank fill up lasts many gas tank fill ups

to get all the co2 out of the bottle and still have it up right you have to get them "siphoned" and a paintball store.

also...propane injected?i dont get it....is it accually injected into the engine?

yes, its connected to your intake baiscally like nitrous, boosting your octane level. But the catch is that its always on giveing you 95 - 100 octane on 91 pump gas. Like a bottle wil last you a few tanks of gas also.

.....and thats in no way hurting your engine?

also propane tanks are ugly! :)

not at all, its probably better for your engine than normal fuel...

and if you are so worried about an ugly white bottle just paint it:rolleyes: :D

they also make many diffferent types of propane bottles... you dont have to use a gas grill bottle .... you can buy a bottle that looks much like a nitrous bottle... just go to a welding store and they have all different sizes.... granted the gas grill bottle would be the cheapest and most convienent but I couldnt put one in my car either
