Hey, Im new around this forum, and I have a few questions. maybe Dr. Jones knows something about this, and would help out a fellow Oredigger.

I just painted an aftermarket grill for my car, using some duplicolor stuff in a can. However, the way the can sprayed, it didnt go on horribly smooth. its a little bumpy, and not very glossy.

I am wondering, what should i do to smooth it out and gloss it up? should i wetsand it with 2000 grit, or what?. I dont want to sand the paint off, and i already tried using rubbing compound, which helped, but the gloss and smoothness doesnt nearly match the rest of the car...

help:confused:

thanks!

Getting it painted for $20 by a professional paint shop with your matching paint code on your car inside the door jam.

Yeah, a small piece like that is cheap if you sand it down and prime it yourself. I used to work at a body shop for 2 years.

Yeah, just do a wet sand on it to keep it extra smooth and go ahead and prime it up smoothly. Get those cans of primer that spray on a layer vertically. (ask the store about it, they'll know) and take it to a local body shop and have them paint it. Make sure when you get it done that that the paint code matches. It'll look far better, and last longer than Duplicolor.

Yeah...like...I'll do my best to describe it...On the little nozzle on a can of spray paint it is usually just a little hole right...well, on this kinda...the hold is just a little vertical line and it sprays on smooth and straight instead of like a circle or whatever...do you get it?
