so i managed to get 24 points on one ticket today, 12 points for speeding (88 in a 45) 8 for reckless driving , and 4 for no proof of insurance, and an expired licence that they took but there is nothing on the ticket about it for some strange reason..... what do you guys think? ive got like 8 points counting against me i think as it is... any similar experiences? i see there is 10-90 days possible jail time for each of the biggies.... argh... sux

yea.... i'd have to recomend getting a good lawyer on that one....
also, 12+8+4=24 i believe... not 22
If it said 22 on the ticket and not 24 that'd be cool.. i've heard of people getting the whole thing thrown out at court over stuff like that....

whoa.... all i have to say is shit.. and thats stupid... i almost got a ticket the other day... i was going 50 in a 25mph zone... the funny part is.. everyone goes that speed.. and that day i was an example... so they took me.. and they pulled me over... then i told my self i cant afford having a ticket and the insurance and my father will be upset with me... he would just ignore me for a week or so...so i faked a depression... i made my hands shake... and when he asked for my registration i just fumbled through the papers and dropped them all and then when i was about to give it to him i dropped it again and i acted so edgy and scared and like i was loosing it.. and he whent to his car and i acted like i was crying and pulling my hair... and when he came back i think he felt sorry for me.. and becase i had no records of getting tickets.. and i told him my car wasd stolen and blah blah... he felt sorry for me.. and said here ill give you a warning .. so consider your self lucky... Try to go home and relax a little... lol i got away good... but my problem is that what i did was wrong.... i used guilt to make him feel sorry... man bad karma.. bad karma... i know im gonna get fucked sometime soon for doing that..... i prevented many suspensions and one expulsion in the same way... fake hyperventalation and crying... the thing is i look a bit innocent.. and im good at lying and faking it... but i always feel wrong after i get away with it... because im just a big fake lie... evil... bad karma
one more thing... we have nice cops here in montgomery County... they are really nice... i know... ive been in trouble with them a few times..

i'm against arguing about or trying to get out of a ticket. It's not about the cop that's a dick because he pulled you over, or why he didn't pull over the domestic that was next to you, or why he didn't let you off when you showed him your boob. It's the law, if you break it you have to be punished, that's how it works, it's there for a reason.
IMO people shouldn't get off with just a warning. Yea it's just a trafic thing, and even if no one is getting hurt or whatever, you still broke the law. Really if you think about it, it shouldn't be just the people that get pulled over and written a ticket who have to pay, really anyone who brakes the law, regardless of weither a cop is there or not should have to pay... there isn't a really easy way to handle that (don't think the honor system will work...) but that's how it should be. How would you feel if the guy who stole your car got of with just a warning, or because he started crying and complaning about his dad or something got off with a misdimeanor for minor theft or something...
If I get pulled over, I was doing something wrong, and deserve the punishment that the law see's fit. Trying to sneak my way out of it wouldn't make me any better than OJ for trying to get off for killing his wife...

i didnt compain about my dad with the cop... but i knwo what you mean.. thats why i said i feel bad after wards
DrJones
07-05-2003, 02:17 PM
yea, I know.. wasn't refering specifically to you.. but at least you feel bad about it.
I mean if the judge wants to reduce your points or fine because he see's your a good driver, than thats cool. If you have a legitimate reason to fight it, then that's cool too. No offense to anyone here, but I have a big problem with people who try to wiggle out of every little thing just because they don't want to suffer the consequences. Then get pissed at the cop or whoever when they end up having to face the consequences.
I agree with those people who say one of the major problems with today society is that people don't want to take responsibility for anything... to me that's just sad. You (not talking to anyone specifically) should have more respect for yourself, others, and the law than to try and avoid all negative backlash from something you did.

Ok i'm done... maybe John should be telling everyone this... he's probably the only one old enough here who should be lecturing everyone like a parrent....

i agree with u dr jones but there are also laws against discrimination and you will be discriminated against if u drive a fixed up looking import around here (so cal). Youre right, if youre speeding and you get pulled over, you deserve it. But you drive by a cop and he stares at you the entire time then follows you for a few blocks while he runs your plate and checks up on you it doesnt feel to good. Once or twice is one thing, but i can honestly say that happens to me, 1-2 times a week without fail. Gets old really quick. Everyone breaks traffic laws, EVERYONE. You are just more likely to get a ticket if youre in a lowered import. period.

Each situation's outcome is different even if another person did the same exact thing the 2 outcomes would be different.
I know of individuals that get away with MURDER (almost) and others that are serving time for NO PROOF OF INSURANCE.

Yea, you seem to be more mature about this than most people would. I don't recall you saying anything about how dumb cops are... though I must say... if I had a supra i'd probably have a few more points on my license than I do now...

Figures, you deserve it.
There was a thread on G2IC once where this cop was riding this kids ass on the highway, so the kid took off up to 130mph, then slowed down and waited for him, then he went to punch it again, and the cop flipped on his lights. I guess the cop was just unmarked, and the kid thought he was racing him. So he gets pulled over, didn't even get arrested or anything, and tells the board, "I'm gonna fight it, that cop was a dick head and tricked me, " and some shit like that. It was the most stupid thing I've ever read.
Oh and by the way, anything over 20 over and they can, and are supposed to arrest your ass on the spot.
For the insurance part, all you have to do is provide proof that you had insurance at the time and it will be immediatly dropped. You may be able to take a deffensive driving course to lower the points some, but everytime I asked, they told me "NO." Also, this is just my personal opinion, but I think if you were going to go to jail that they would have arrested you on the spot. I don't think you will have to go to jail, and you probably see some heavy fines, the judge will bust your balls, and you may lose your license all together, but none of that is really all that bad in the long run.
CSMsi311
07-05-2003, 07:58 PM
i doubt you will be able to still keep a normal license, especially since you already have 8 points against you. What stu says about going to jail makes sense. then again i don't really have an experience to go by.
My friend was caught doing 110 or 120 on the highway in Kansas. He went to court and he had the option of no license for 6 months or a red license for 12 months, he took the latter.

07-05-2003, 08:09 PM
Yea but if you follow the red license thing for a while they might lower it-thats what happened w/my brother. He was drunk doing 60 on a dirt road and spun out and flipped his car like 4 times-failed to report it til the next morning and got 20 points but since he had a good lawyer he got it lowered to 4 points. they put him on a red license for 6 months but ended up lowering it to 2
CSMsi311
07-05-2003, 08:16 PM
No offense to you personally, but shit... That pisses me off that a drunk driver only gets a red license for 2 months. Thank god no one was hurt. That goes back to the being responsible for your actions. Driving drunk is just not excusable in my book.
I'm sure you most likely have a very different opinion b/c for you in is a within the family.

Damn that sucks dude... but at the same time, doing near double the speed limit does have it's consequences too... you pick what ya wanna do.
I was sentenced to a red license for six months, but got it back after four for good behavior. So did they tow your car when they arrested you Kostas?

they sure did! i still dont have it and its chillin at the impound iwth the top off, wouldnt even let me put the targa back on... rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I was just wondering, because it occured to me that you would have to pay the tow bill and impound lot bill as well. Sorry to hear all this dude.

The people at the impound were TOTAL assholes. We just walked in there (because the gate was open) and they got all in our face and stuff. Saying we had to leave the property immediately, and couldnt put the top on because they were too busy sodomizing sheep or something to take the time.
Seemed like they were acting really weird at that place to me..almost like they were trying to hide something? Its prolly a big front for a chop shop or something...they were "closed" but there were at least 3 people there just hanging out? on the 4th of July? The whole thing was a little weird..

was it a city impound or private? The private ones are almost certainl a center for insurance fraud and usually chop shops too. Towing companies for the most part are shifty at best.

I had a similar situation many years ago. I received a 20 point ticket and 12 point racing ticket in the span of two weeks. Long story short; got a lawyer for each appearance. The 20 point was reduced to 6, and the 12 point was also reduced to 6. I lost my license for a year but was able to apply for and received a probationary license after 7 months.
Your insurance is going to skyrocket for the next 5 years, sorry.
As for the possibility of jail time, that is dependant on the mood of the judge and your prior driving history. If your previous record is clean, you should be fine.
