The only Solo I stuff that I know about in Colorado is Solo Trials, which only happens about 4 times a year. There isn't much in between Solo II (crowded) and Club racing (expensive).

Solo I is a long road coarse (usually around 2 miles) with turns and such that you do alone. Solo II is also know as auto cross, it is a slower race filled with turns, your lucky if you get over 30mph IMC (look at weston's sig, thats solo I) Club Clash is an even at bandimere where clubs of different people race against eachother (drag racing). HAI has one called CIA (Colorado Import Aliance)
I've never done any real "organised" racing so I might not be very acurate.

My sig is Solo II and I can't really watch my speedometer, but I'd estimate that speeds are usually around 40-60 mph. I can usually bounce off of my revlimiter in 2nd (about 60 mph) in one or sometimes two spots on the course. That doesn't sound fast, but take a ride with someone and you'll be quite surprised. It's even faster for the driver because he's the one that has to get through the course, which tends to be a lot of different turns, one right after another, all the way through the course.

There's also the NASA club.
They Solo I, but it's only twice a year at PPIR.
