YAY! Finally got off my ass and got that beeotch in. Thanks to Brian motivating my lazy ass, I now have a water cooled intercooler. Only thing is that it likes to leak for a while after I spray, can't be good for the track. But maybe I can find something to regulate the water so it only comes out when it's pumped. But anyway, thanks again Brian for all the help and hopefully I can pick up a temp reader thingy to test how effective this setup works.

I have a sprayer I made also and to break the siphon action you need to put a one way aquarium valve (real cheap) on the line. It will pull in air when you stop pumping and break the sihon action.

SWEET! That's what I needed to hear, I'm off to fishy world, or wherever they sell stuff like that.

I have been thinking about doing one of these setups.

I was thinking though, I wonder if it would be too dangerous to use an alcohol or acetone based solution instead of water.

They evaporate much faster so I would think that would cool off the intercooler faster, but obviously dangerous due to the whole flammable/combustable thing... :p But I think if contained properly and there was no leakage or overspray it should be fine... (hopefully lol)

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Use water. Using something flamable like that is simply asking for trouble.

If you are leaking water, the track officials won't take kindly to that. Not at all...

I use a 50/50 mixture of alcohol and water, the alcohol seems to stay a little cooler than just water and with it that diluted it's not flammable.

I actually rarely use mine at the strip but it does come in handy on hot days and on the highway.

Water has a higher specific heat, and more capacity to cool. Besides, you are asking for trouble using flammables.

Use windshield wash! if mitsubishi does it for the lancer it has to be a GOOD thing right? It evaporates damn well, isnt flammable...may turn your interc00ler blue someday I guess..but there are no signs of blueness on mine yet.

windsheild wash is made up of mostly (78%) alcohol anyway. It is flammable but only in cases where a fire has already started. (even then it doesnt do much, ive tried it.)

haha, I did that w/ the integra and used my windsheild washer motor and reservoir. It was cool for a while, then got messed up. Nice job :)
