Can anyone explain to me what is a ls-vtec engine, I saw '94 Integra that I'm interested in buying and the guy said that it had a ls-vtec egine in it instead of the regular engine. The car is a Integra GSR with 93K on it and is selling at $7,000. I want to know alittle bit more about this before I pursue. Any help will do.

Thanks

check this out (http://www.highaltitudeimports.com/vbulletin/search.php)

simple form: it's an ls block with a vtec head. now comes the part where everyone tells you "they suck dude".
get ready...

Why would this guy have a ls/vtec in a GSR? Doesn't that sound just a little bit weird. I also agree many ls/vtec haven't lasted beyond 5,000 miles. Soemthing to do with the oiling system.

i guess i should also add that 99% of them who say they suck have never touched a motor in their life.
the other 1% probably put it together wrong

I saw the ad too - it was on Autotrader or Cars.com, can't remember which one. Anyways, an LSVTEC is NOT a GSR, the guy is prolly stupid and called it a GSR because it 'has VTEC'. Based on this assumption, I would not buy the car as the guy is prolly a complete moron.

Mine never blew up, I took it apart. Good enough for a 14.21 N/A. Chew on that and spit it out.

ls/vtec gets a bad rep cuz its a motor you actually have to work on and pay attention to. Not just swap it in and never worry about it. I think its a bad-ass powerplant myself, and thats why im building one. 99% of the people that talk shit on the ls/vtec dont know enough to be opening their mouths. They can be trouble, yes, but its a frank motor for gods sake! Of course everyones experiences are gonna be different. If theres one thing you DONT wanna listen to, its the "if it was so good, honda would have made it". Thats complete b.s. Turbo'ed cars are good, and honda doesnt produce any of those...

to all you lsvtec haters fuk u
to the accord boy check out my reply on the regular lsvtec thread and you can see that they dont blow up.

i now change my oil once a month religiously.

i have had lsvtec for 80k and never had a problem with oiling oil consumption or ovherheating. i do admit i have a fluidyne radiator. myabe that does the diff. but i also do have my wimpy ls pumps. but hey have not done my car any wrong. my car now has 140k and still running great.

note to every body do not use copper head gaskets on lsvtecs they suck ass and are the source of your leakeage and blown head gaskets.

i have seen other lsvtecs like this
i used a stock oem honda gasket and have had no problems.

i agree with cherrybomb they are cars that require more attention but the output is well worth it.
also like he said half of these idiots have never owned one and worked on one. and half of you never even did shit to any of your cars and payed for everything. you are the type of people to pay 150 $$ to have your short rams istalled. so dont talk shit if you cant dissasemble a fuking engine yourself.
i know more than 98% dont know how that shit really works either and no super street and super tuner tv dont count either.
also i just slapped in a brand new type r tranny with lsd and man my car is fuking fast.:guns:

Other parts were pretty much useless but that's funny...cause a lot of people do pay that for short rams
