Hello All, I am new to this forum and I have never had an AFC. So, my question is for all those who might have a similar setup...What is a good starting point for me, til I can get dyno time.

Here are my recent engine mods:
S-AFC
16G Turbo
550 Injectors
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Ported Manifold
Ported O2 Housing
3" Thermal Exhaust w/Test Pipe
Greddy FMIC
2G MAS w/K&N Filter
Side and Lower Honeycombs removed
Screw adjusted flush
Complete Engine Rebuild
Oversized Stainless Valves

Is your car a DSM? If so, read on. If not, skip.

All cars are different, and will act differently with the same mods applied.

A good rule of thumb follows. Stock injectors are 450cc. Your new injectors are 550. That's an 18% increase in the amount of fuel squirted with the AFC set to all zeros. So, to start with, pull 15% across the board.

What monitors do you have in place? Boost? EGT? Do you have the ability to monitor the stock O2 sensor voltage (front sensor)?

Just out of curiosity, was anything else besides the oversized valves put into the motor when it was rebuilt, or did you use stock parts? What year is the motor? 6bolt? 7bolt? Did you use a stock head gasket? ARP studs or stock?

Yes, sorry about the missing info, it is a 1990 DSM Laser RS.

Dual 264 cams
ARP Studs
Metal Head Gasket...????
I do not have a boost gauge yet or EGT gauge
I can monitor O2 Readings with the AFC
6 Bolt...I believe

Thanks for the help...

You have cams but no boost gauge! Interesting methodology of modding. :)

Get monitors in place before you do ANYTHING else. Boost, fuel pressure, EGT and a real air/fuel monitor, like the techedge do-it-yourself wideband kit. IF not the wideband, at least something like the unit from www.jumptronix.com. I've never used the 'blue wire mod' to monitor the front O2 sensor, but I guess that'd be the same as a jumptronix. What type of voltage are you seeing at WOT in 3rd gear at full boost? How about an average while crusising?

What boost controller are you using, or have you done anything to control boost at all yet? Are you driving the car now? If so, what are your current AFC settings?

When you rebuild the motor did the original pistons & rings go back in?

:D I know....I know...:D I swear the gauges are on their way to me now.

I'm using a Greddy BOV-S, Xtreme Manual Boost Controller, Same pistons (Bead Blasted), New Rings...
I am getting a new O2 sensor today, cuz right now it jumps all over the place. At idle it jumps from 0.000 to 0.3X. I will be able to tune better obviously when I replace that.

The A/F gauge I have coming to me is a Faze Bar Graph Gauge. I am definetly going to get a jumptronix gauge and an EGT gauge.

Recommend any EGT in particular?

Update...Sorry the A/F gauge is not bar graph...it reads analog (with numbers)
