Here are some of the results on the NHRA Extreme rush going on at Rte. 66.
Pro-RWD Qualifying round one
Results for Qualifying Round 1
JOLIET, Ill. - CHICAGO 1 - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Rear Wheel Drive at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Lucas Oil NHRA Route 66 Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Abel Ibarra Runs 20.377/40.74, Now #7
Ibarra's car appeared to bog on the launch and never recovered, idling the rest of the way down track.
Left Lane: Jorge Lazcano Runs 13.245/67.81, Now #0
Right Lane: Stephan PapadakisRuns 8.492/115.00, Now #1
Papadakis looked to be on a good pass until the Honda dumped a cloud of vapor at three quarter track and slowed. Lazcano waited on the line for some time and then got out of shape after a slow launch.
Left Lane: Grant Downing Runs 7.371/186.59, Now #0
Right Lane: Ara Arslanian Runs 6.783/203.46, Now #1
Arslanian had a stout 1.06 in 60' and went on to record the best run of the session so far, much to the fan's approval.
Left Lane: Matt Scranton Runs 6.905/202.30, Now #0
Right Lane: George Ioannou Runs 10.937/81.91, Now #1
Scranton got out first, almost equalling Arslanian's short time but was just that much slower for the rest of the run. Luckily he was ahead of Iaonnou who crossed the centerline before the 330' clocks, driving around the "cone" and back into his own lane.

Left Lane: George Ioannou Runs 6.753/207.27
Right Lane: Manny Cruz Runs 7.713/191.24
Despite a slow 1.118 in the first 60' Iaonnou got it all right this time and ran the best sport compact spped ever. Cruz made his first run on a new motor a good one with a strong top end.
Left Lane: Ara Arslanian Runs 6.760/204.14
Right Lane: Jorge Lazcano Runs 7.442/172.87
Arslanian backed up his earlier lap with another stout one while Lazcano got it right this time after his off pace round one effort.

Left Lane: Ed Bergenholtz Runs 9.410/151.02, Now #1
Right Lane: Bruce Mortensen Runs 11.640/148.30, Now #8
This was the first official NHRA pass for the Bergenholtz Mazda and Ed launched carefully but still carded a solid lap while Mortensen's normally Hot Rod classified Honda stumbled early in the run, picking up in the back half to record a respectable speed.
Left Lane: Shaun Carlson Runs 15.424/102.63, Now #0
Right Lane: Nelson Hoyos Runs 8.635/184.60, Now #1
Carlson launched quicker than Hoyos but appeared to have gearbox problems early in the run while the Cavalier sped to a stout lap at Nelson's best speed for the season.
Left Lane: Jerrold Rhodes Runs 13.853/67.22, Now #7
Rhodes slowed after the 330 clocks and simply cruised for the rest of the run.
Round 2

Right Lane: Ed Bergenholtz Runs 11.178/172.01
Bergenholtz was ready for a full lap this time but the car stumbled early in the run. The recovery was stout however and the Mazda cleared the traps at 172 mph after clocking 133 mph at half track.
Right Lane: Shaun Carlson Runs 12.097/67.78
Carlson was trying a different gearbox setup this time around but after a stout 1.344 60' clocking the trans again appeared to give problems and Shaun coasted through.
Left Lane: Nelson Hoyos Runs 8.535/178.00
Right Lane: Jerrold Rhodes Runs 11.474/120.39
Hoyos got in another clean run while Rhodes again struggled in the Honda
