so it was a sad day for ma baby... the problem lies within the tranny not the pilot bearing or TOB like we thought... the tranny is not serviceable according to toyota ... but there is one place that can service it {rebuild}out in texas at Jay Marks Toyota..... takes bout 1 week ship each way and about 2 weeks of actual rebuild time. so yea im out of my car for at least 1 month. this sux.... one of the best months for cruisin around... {sigh}

AAMCO can't fix it or some other transmission place? What about getting levelten.com to look at it and beefing it up in the process? Or perhaps maybe buying a newer used tranny off of someone on a supra site?

a used tranny is gonna be more expensive than rebuilding it, also no aamco cannot rebuild the tranny because it is not serviceable, the parts are not available to the public, you can get the parts from toyota japan using part #'s for the japan spec tranny, but thats the thing, nobody knows how to to work on it and there are no manuals on how to rebuild it. also from looking at diagrams of the internals, i can see why. and the tranny can handle 900+ HP so there is no point on beefing it up, there was a bad seal which caused it to run low and that caused the bearing to go out... o well i guess ittl just feel like ill have a new car all over again in a month.. {sigh}

I know somebody selling a brand new, never used, Supra tranny for $3000 + shipping from Michigan. They list at $5800 so that is a good price.

Wow that sucks, $3000 for a USED tranny!!! :eek:

I know it can handle serious power, but jeez, my T5 tranny cost me $70, and my spare was $50. I think I'll stick to my low budget project.

The tranny is serviceable. Talk to Jeff Watson at Jay Marks. He does rebuilts of the 6speeds.

And I just realized that I needed to read your whole post. :)

aamco could not rebuild it if they tried.. like i said its not serviceable. plus i would never take my tranny to them fo0s even if they could rebuild it.

it IS serviceable, dealerships just wont do rebuilds, and shops are scared of it.

sorry for suggesting AAMCO. I only mentioned it since I drove by one today and thought about it when I read your post.

well yes it IS technicaly servicable ... but only one guy in the US has enough ballz to rebuild them . and the tools. i guess it takes many specific tools made just to work on it. and a lot of pateince and intelligence.. thats why nobody will touch it. but there is new light on the situation.. i may be getting a low milage tranny and swap with mine and $$$ so i wont have the 1 month downtime.. i want my car back and i dont want mike to have my car taking up space forever too.... but yea ittl be back on the road b4 then end of june
