hehe, youll probably be surprised to hear thats completely wrong. Wal Mart is King Soopers, Safeways, and Albertsons biggest competitor. Got to see a vid with the head dept. people about how wal mart ownz everyone. They screw their employees over, but because they do they make soo much more than Kings, etc does. Oh well, good luck to em all, im off to detailing cars!

Christopher Dodge offered me a job detailing... funny thing was i wasn't even asking for it. My roomate went there looking for a truck and the salesguy just kind of caught on and gave me an application. Money would be ok i guess, and better than bagging groceries or something... but man i just couldn't do it. It's a moral issue... the way they push them down the line, butchering the paint jobs and glazing them over to make them look good for a week or two...

I couldn't do that... just not honest enough for me. If they try and get you using a rotary buffer within the first month or two, please don't do it... they really butcher cars if you don't have the practice. (well... if they are nice cars butcher them up good then give the owners my email so i can detail them and remove the buffer marks :D ) If you start getting into the detailing thing and want some tips feel free to pm me.

i think its cool that mentally challanged people get to work and be out in public... but king soopers is NOT the bomb for doing that... the only reason why they have them working there is that the government considers "them" a write off.. you see a challanged person working at a grocery store... its because the fucking government pays them to work there, king soopers gets free labor from them. ALL grocery stores do this. i used to work at one and one of the head honchos told me this. also when i worked there they treated them like babies or like shit, made me so fucking mad some times.. they wouldnt let this one guy put away the return groceries because the manager said he would get lost and not be able to find his way back up front, so i took it upon myself to go help him put them away against my managers direction... fuck grocery stores. they suck

o yea and i got written up for helpin that dude

Hey iburnslabs you were mislead.
The federal Government does not pay for the workers labor the actual employer does. The employer receives a tax break for employing them, they also recive a tax break if the individual is on welfare or was on welfare.

I'm not going to do anymore than I have to for $6.74 an hour. It's not my fault I litterally didn't have to do shit because they were dumb.

For what I make now I'll bust my ass a little. Not for $6.74 an hour though.

Hmmm, the grocery industry isn't that bad,it pays my bills plus I have a 401k,4 weeks vacation, full medical, vision & dental and make a very good wage for just stocking shelves which is pretty much cake.

I work for Safeway and I do see the bullshit and wouldn't want to start over but with the time I have in the job it really isn't that bad.

How long have you worked there for?? I would have to work there for 4 or 5 years to get any sort of seniority as a checker and thats 4 or 5 years with the crappy hours im gettin. I just cant afford that :( I work at the only non union store in CO, yet we follow union rules, so its the worst of both worlds in the sense that seniority rules, but we dont get union benefits

Shit I hear you my P/T gig is at Subways and I get $10.00 and hour and bust my ass off because they are willing to pay me $10.00 and hour. Im the highest paid employee at the subways Im at. I make twice that an hour at my F/T job though.

I hear Batman too. When I worked at Radio Shack, they paid me $5.25 an hour, and this was only a couple of months ago. My first job when I was 15 paid me $7 to start out at. My manager was really bad at doing stuff and getting his shit done, so the corporate office would call all the time wanting shit. Everytime, I would be like, "Oh you need this done? Well, I'll make sure and pass the message along." I can't even believe they expected me to carry out duties that my general mananger was responsible when they were only paying me $5.25. Fuck Radio Shack.

That's the problem. You are not shit at a grocery store unless you have been there forever.

I signed up for a promotion after two months and got it. I went from a CC to GC (service desk), I went from a paultry $6.42 an hour to $6.74. A lot of people with more seniority were pissed because they missed the sign up sheet. There were 30+ year-old guys who had been there for two years stuch as courtesy clerks. One guy was even ex-military/Gulf War vet, which in any other environment, besides a shitty grocery store, would allow him to move up and do well. Only reason I got promoted was by sheer luck. Nobody ever saw the sign up sheet for that promotion I guess.

Now here's where it gets really shitty. A couple months into my new position another lady, who was hired the same day as me, also got promoted to the service desk/video department. I had to train that stupid as all hell cunt rag. Then since my last name starts with a "W" she had more seniority than me. She got to pick her hours first. I went from putting away videos all the time and watching movies to having to work in the recycle center all the time. What the recycle center actually is is a place where everyone in Parker brought me their TRASH to sort through for recyclables. Fuck, even garbage men don't have to dig through trash, plus they have sweet benefits and good pay.

Needless to say I got so fed up with sorting through trash in the nice Oxfords and Khakis I was forced to buy/wear. I just started throwing it all away, bottles, cans, newspapers, I didn't give a fuck. I just yanked my pee pee in the recycle center all evening and then in the last hour of my shift I would take three or four palates back to the compactor and dump it all. That's how I cruised through my last six months there not doing shit.

Then in the end I spend one day at the desk cashing checks and stuff and they make me leave my keys while I go to lunch. Wouldn't you know, my drawer comes up $400 short. They accuse me of stealing it. Now maybe they wanted to get rid of me because I was a jack off, I can totally see that. But anyway they locked me in a room and interogated me four six hours (which is illegal BTW, especially because I was 16). Then they suspended me indefinately. What does that mean? I have no clue. I guess they can't fire you without proof you did it but they can suspend you indefinately without pay? So whatever, I quit. Then they told all my old friends that they caught me on camera stealing. Um, ok. That's libel. But that's another story.

Fuck grocery stores.

I started back in '89 up in Conifer so I have put in some time but it's an easy job for $16/hr plus benefits.

My friend who is 24 just sterted a year and a half ago and he's over $12/hr but it is hard for him to get certain days off cause the rest of night crew has seniority over him but he doesn't mind. Night crew is the place to start if you can deal with the hours since there is alot of turnover and you if you pass the checker test right away you can start at $9.50/hr.

Hrmm...well its not that these places are that bad to work at..if people are dumb enough to stay there and put up with their shitty wages, shitty management, and union bullshit...they deserve to get fucked over. If you dont like what you are doing..go work somewhere else..simple as that. We were hiring cashiers at $8/hr and we arent union...have a VERY nice store to work in..and take care of the people who work for us. Small time grocery chains wont be around much longer anyway...they dont have the money or resources to compete with large retail, period.

I guess I'm a little jaded because I work in it... :)

Wal-Mart

Net Sales or Revenues 244,524.00 (these numbers are all in millions ok?)

Gross Income 49,254.00

Kroger (their PARENT company...NOT King Soopers itself)

Net Sales or Revenues 51,759.50
