I just want to know what your opinions are on bikes, and which side of the fence you sit on, or if you think a fence even exhists.
My dad has two Harleys and all of their friends ride hogs (except one or two Goldwings) and all of my girlfriend's family are hardcore harley bikers, but I ride Yamaha, love sports and imports whether they be japs, italian, or english ( or even U.S.=Buell) and may never own a Harley in my life. I still appreciate what Harleys represent and I like the way they look most of the time, but they are really archaic machines and I dont think they are worth the premium price that you must pay for them. I would love to someday build a badass cutom chop, but I cant see paying that much for a stock bike that has such poor performance and you cant lean.
There is always such a strong distinction between the Harley guys, the sport bike guys, and the "other cruiser" guys. Does it really matter? Isn't the wind all the same?

In colorado I can really see the advantages of a sport bike where you can really get some use out of it in the turns.
But I have been in Houston the past couple of weeks and I really think it would be the place to own a HD. No turns and alot of flat open road.
So I think it is dependent on where you live and how old you are. I can't see myself on a sport bike when I am 60.

I like both since their purposes are very different,I know I wouldn't want a crotch rocket for a long cruise or road trip but for the thrill of acceleration and speed you can't beat 'em.

I'd ride either, preferably both. I've not owned a sport bike, but have owned a couple cruisers.
Man I'd like a commuting bike.. :)

I talk a lot of smack about Hardley rider's but I really don't have any real problems with any bikers. I used to ride cruizers before I bought my Gixxer in 98.
I love sportbikes but I actually don't like a lot of sportbikers. I just hang my head in shame when I see what some of my brethern do when around town.
It will be a long time before I would buy a cruizer again but my next bike for street porpouses will definatly not be a R bike. Prolly something like a Monster, Bonneville or old cafe racer...Mmmmm Norton.
I can definatly admire any bike out there for sure

I like custom bikes and choppers but would never own one. I would rather own a $10K vacuum cleaner. The only difference in the two is where the dirtbag rides.

I love my sport bike, however I do like Harleys too. Well I better seeing as how I just boguht one. My Ninja is way faster than the harley, corners better and all that mess but even with it being one of the more comfortable "R" bikes it does not compare to the harley. I always swore up and down I would never ride a harley until I actually took one for a spin. I absoutely love it, it's not really fast, but it's not slow and it is as comfortable as all hell. I can crusie non-stop on that thing for a few hours, whereas on my ninja a good hour and a half and my wrists start to feel the lean. What can I say, I love both, I took the ninja out for a cruise today and it was an absolute blast. I guess it all depends on what kind of riding you are looking to do, when I want to go fast I will take out my 6R and when I want to cruise and go on a long ride the Harley it is. I guess I kind of have the best of both worlds in that respect. My next bike purchase is going to be a Chopper for sure though, I totally dig them

I'm going to have to agree with all of you. They both have their strong points, and it's all just a matter of what the purpose is. I tend to shy away from stock Harleys because everyone and their dog rides them. I really like to have that obscurity factor, and ride something different and have my own style. I do like cafe style and if I had the time and money, I would love to turn my XS into a cafe racer. I would also ride a cruiser, even a Harley, but it would definitely be one of a kind custom. A big fat rear meat, bob-tail, drag bars, big-power V twin, wild paint, and lots of chrome. That's what I'm talkin about!

I like bikes the way I like cars, it's all about the performance. Sure I like Harleys, but it's kinda like I will never own a cadillac. They look and feel bulky, and while there performance is accually pretty good, it doesnt give the feel I need.

While I love sportbikes (they handle better and go faster than the hogs do!), I have always had a love for old-style choppers...ol' Knuckleheads, Shovelheads, the famous Panheads, and even some of the new EVO V-twins out there have found a place in my heart as far as Harley engines go... and besides, who doesn't like seeing some big (or medium sized, I dunno) American bike made into a work of art?
The big debate that "Which is better: Sportbike or Cruiser" has always gone on, and that especially goes for the drag-bike crowd...HD guys always get into it with the sportbike crowd, then there're those who just sit back and watch it all unfold.

The only person I knew that rode a cruiser was a business professor I once had; other than him, everyone I know is all about the crotch rockets. I think we (my friends and I) just haven't reached the age to really appreciate cruisers especially for those out there that stunt a lot.
But regardless of all that, why wouldn't you want to ride a crotch rocket? You get to get dressed up in leathers and look like a freaking POWER RANGER!!!

I like choppers because I'd like to build my own (or a couple of them) some day, but that'll never happen due to lack of knowledge. I like the sport bikes too. I'd go for both. I like the choppers because it shows you're own work, but I like the sport bikes just because they're cool.
