People, a long winded story:

I went down to the track in Albuquerque with my trusty-as-of-yet '02 Silver Sport Wagon to embarass some 'fast cars' on 05/23/03. My previous best run had been on 05/09/03 and was 14.533@93.98 with my mods being: boost set to 15 psi, a K&N filter in the stock airbox and a STi up-pipe cat replacement .

With a maximum of 13 psi coming out of the little TD04 I ran the following on 05/23/03:
R/T: .172
60': 1.978
E.T.: 14.426
MPH: 94.172

Still no 660' or 330' times yet. F@ckers!

Last week I had my local exhaust guy weld up a cut-n-paste mandrel bent 2.5" axle-back section with a no-name straight-through style muffler. Nice throaty sound, no Wah-Wah-Wah at highway speeds or back fires with sudden throttle lifts. I left the stock downpipe cats and mid-section pipe in place. My wife doesn't even notice it's louder! Wow!

Back to racing Friday: I was silly and trusted that the gas I bought on an indian reservation (oops, a pueblo, gotta be P.C.) between Santa Fe and Albuquerque was actually dispensing 91 octane like the sticker on the pump said.

About 5 miles from the gas station crusing on I-25 I lay into the throttle to climb a hill at ~80 MPH and I hear a single, or possibly two audible knocks from the engine as the boost kicks in. Immediately I can feel the ECU yanking back timing and furiously adding fuel to compensate.

Being 40 miles from home, about 2/3's of the way to the track with no tools, I figure I oughta just continue to the track and run lower boost.

What I shoulda done was bought some octane booster or 100 octane unleaded at the track and borrowed a 10 mm wrench to reset the ECU. I probably coulda had a couple of 14.20's that night.. sigh...

Later that night I ran a 14.428@93.580 with a .072 R/T, and a 1.982 60' versus a newby Acura NSX driver who lays down a .670 light, a 2.660 60' time and a 16.3@92.1 ET/MPH. Hardee-Har-Har!

Honorable mentions to the stock '01 Mustang GT running 15.40's I schooled, and the '98 Vette I beat with my 14.482@93.8 to his 14.58x@101 mph! His .254 light to my asleep-at-the-wheel .270 R/T.

Wanna talk about watching some headlights really closing in on you near the end of the track? This Vette guy musta been a newby, cause he kept it floored for at least 100 yards past the 1/4 mile traps! Maybe it was a temper tantrum?!?

I talked to him later and he gives me the standard "If I had another 50 feet of track I woulda caught yah" line. To which I reply "That's why it's a 1/4 mile race, not 1/4 mile plus 50 feet!". Seriously, though, a LS-1 Vette driver making excuses: TO ME!!

My car is beginning to get a reputation as a spoiler! The track announcer even knows who I am now! Amazing! How long will THIS clutch last me? Doh!

So far my investment includes:
Purchase price of car new: $24,003
K&N Filter: $42 (Jeg's)
HKS boost controller: $197 (Ebay)
2.5" muffler section (coke dealers posing as muffler shop): $125
JDM Subaru STi up-pipe: $220 (Ebay)

Stock she ran a 15.38@89.2 mph. $584 in perf. parts has dropped a full second off the E.T. and added 5 MPH to my traps at 5200 feet! Hooty-Hoo!

I wanna live in Mexico now..hehe. It would seem like some people don't know how to drive. I ran a 14.9@93mph in my stock 03' RSX Type S and that was when the car had about 99x miles on it. Yeah...I was too anxious, but oh well.

I actually have a few um...interesting timeslips and video for you. Stock RSX-S vs 03' WRX. You see....your launch is everything..without it...you will lose in stock form as well as somewhat modified.

Although I love WRX's...they just don't have the top end to play around from rolls. Gotta love the launch when it is done right..which I have heard is extremely quick...but looks to me that you are probably a good driver, but something is holding you back in the top end. My friend has only beat me once and he ran a 14.5@92mph with a 2.0 60ft. So taking that into account and then looking at your trap speed....you've got more potential.

I think my next run should be in the mid 14's as well. I've got Injen CAI and now I don't let off the gas when shifting...just tap and shift. The 14.9 was a result of letting off the gas while shifting. OH well...cheers and good luck.

You do realize that his times are at 5,400 ft up right? A mile high will slow any N/A car down by about a second, and a little less for a turbo car.

He ran a 14.15 up here on Friday night.

Wow, talk about thread revival!

Yeah, with more practice my car is now a solid 14.0-14.1 at high altitude. My best time so far is a 13.97@96.0 in Albuquerque, which should be a 13.45 at sea-level. If it wasn't turbo'd it would correct to a 13.25! Yikes.

If you have never seen me run the quarter....then how do you know I'm not fast? This sounds like an uneducated statement to me. There are plenty of people on here that know what this car can do besides win car shows....

Woohoo, I was wondering if you were even still around! How do I know? Because racing is more than just having a "fast" car - there are skills involved in getting a low ET. You just don't seem the type, especially since you don't drag the car. And I've spoken to some of the people "who know what the car can do".

See, I knew you could do better. We all could say "well, I could run this time if these conditions were met," but what is the point? What you ran, is what you ran. I have heard that Orlando Speedworld has got one of the worst tracks, and the humidity and temperatures here in Florida aren't always the greatest, but it's all I have. I don't care if I drive a mid to high 14 second car right now. For gods sake, it only has an intake on a N/A 2.0L engine. I love it and always will. My last vehicle was a 17.0 Honda Accord (automatic tranny). I hated it, so I tried to convert it to manual, throw in an h22a4 and turbo it...but after buying it all and bringing it to a shop...it got stolen so now I'm starting midway to being quick..and making it quicker.

Doesn't it suck when you buy a bunch of shit just to have it stolen? That's happened to a couple people on this board as well.

I'm sure my car is capable of better times than I've actually run in the 1/4 mile, but I only tell people what I've been able to do personally.

So tell us, what exactly *CAN* your car do, besides win shows? Intimidating posts on here only help to bolster opinions about you, apparently. Your car may be faster than mine, but whe'll probably never know, cause you won't go to the track.

If you ever make it to Bandi, I'll pay your way. I don't know you, but I'll give you the $30, PLUS I'll throw in $20 for gas if you post a picture of your car in the staging lanes and a copy of your best time slip.

That's $50. Hell, run a 12.99 or better and I'll give you another $50 for the effort. $100 to put up or shut up.. I'm guessing it'll be the later and I'll get some nasty messages to snicker at.

I'm sure mudd, Bedlam, Pat, Ghandi, Stu, Forum or any of the regulars will vouch for me. If you run it, I will pay you $100. What could be easier?

Just put it to rest cause it ain't gonna happen,I've already tried.

It's a show car and wins nearly if not every time it's showed and that's why he has a paintjob worth more than most of our cars.

Anyway, this thread is from last year, so I'm not sure if this guy is around anymore.
