East Coast Import Meets

Hi everyone, been a long time. Got caught up in alot here between work and I got my bike almost finished (didn't get the undertail on yet) and decided to sell it cause I got a job so far away I have to move now.

Anyways, figured some of you may want to see what has been going on over here on the East Coast with Imports. There is a guy here that has made a turbo for the celica that seems to be working really well, haven't had time to look into it much but if I keep the car I'm getting it. Many here have Zex too. I have to make some meets, I've been all about the bike lately, lots of sport bike riders in NJ, NY and PA that I hooked up with.

Here's some pics from events, shows here. Some are mostly 7th gen. celicas cause newcelica.org has alot of members here that get together with the honda people in the area and teamsplitsecond which has a variety of different cars all worked. Haven't made any meets yet but on June 28th I'm going to go to the one at the shore with most people from NY, NJ and PA that are into cars, should be pretty big. Have to see the turbos on the celicas with Zex, hear it's pretty sick. May just convince me to keep the celica since my bike is being sold :(

Thanks guys.... He can say NJ sucks or Celicas are ugly, his opinion.. but one thing is here we don't flame. I can name 6 boards, three of which if follow to keep up on the turbo, none have flaming. At the meets, there are hondas, celicas, acuras, mitsubishis, etc. No competiton and hate for "other groups" just people out to learn more and have fun..

However, most of the people I use to know on here weren't like that either ;)

I'm just tired of the attitude in general here lately. A lot of people seem to be jumping down other people's throats for dumb stuff. This used to be a pretty cool place to hang out. I started it to just chat with my friends when we weren't racing.

Maybe I just need a vacation :)

I think they just like to jump down my throat for some reason :( All I tried to do is give you guys a little taste of what is going on here on the other side of the country cause I always liked to see what you guys were doing over there. I never realized how big the import scene is here until recently when I started seriously following the celica boards cause this guy on there is making custom turbos for the GT's now, and I wanted to see how they were working out before I decided to do it or not since alot of people I knew messed up their celicas trying to custom turbo them.

I will say one thing, I think more people I met on this board know about engine mods then here, overall I mean. :Beer: I've been looking for the write up I had explaining how they set up the turbo to try to get some opinions from you guys, but I can't remember which board it was on, I have to search.

Congrats!! Which color did you get, I am going to sell all the stuff I bought for mine before I decided to sell if you are interested. I have the Yosh RS-3 Race bolt on (stainless steel), hugger, other stuff. Just let me know cause if not I'll be putting them on e-bay. Congrats!! I like the 03 blue and while alot more, my friend has it, I like the black along the bottom of the fairing. I miss my bike :(

The only good thing is my bf's friend who is selling it for me owns a dealership and said he'll "hook me up" when I'm ready for another one :) Ryan (my bf) said he'll give it to me right over his cost ;) Mine isn't actually sold yet and I want another one already...

There was another meet here yesterday, but with my new job, I have no time. I will make sure to make the June 28th one cause there are a few celicas I have to see, one has the turbo with a 75 wet shot of zex and he's had it on for a while now and it's working well. If I'm keeping the celica for a few more years, I want to hook it up. If not, I'll keep in another year or so and sell it as is, and get something faster.

Woodrow - hey, yah I know, been real busy but I'm trying to slow down. I'm actually going to be moving about 30-40 minutes from NYC. I got this paralegal position where I'm actually running the office, I have all this responsibilty for every file in there and my own secretary :eek: I don't mind the work as long as they compensate me, so they can throw everything at me now because he promised a review in 6 mos. So we'll see. Problem is his computer system is old school (DOS).. I have been in windows since 98, so I have to re-learn DOS. It sucks. On top of learning the kinda law he practices, really different from what I'm use to.
How's your son? Getting big I bet! My sister is due in 5-6 weeks, she's having a boy, I can't wait!!!

Talonstylz- Hey, what's up. Nice to see everyone seems to be doing well. All my spare time these last few months have been into working on my bike and riding. The celica is pretty much waiting for me to get the suspension fixed... I found a guy who is supposed to be real good but he's far, so I'm going up soon. I think the coil overs just aren't adjusted right, but I also think I'm better off putting Eibach springs in. So, we'll see. I've seen so many "meets" posted around here and it's all kinds of imports at once, kinda cool. I have to start making some of them. They just had one in NC, Myrtle Beach, they rented about 10 houses too!! Englishtown is the track by me, they have alot going on now, as I'm sure they do by you. My bf said he'll help me custom turbo the car so I can learn how to do it (cause I want to)... but I just don't know if it's worth it on the celica. Plus, I've had it 1 1/2 years, by the time I'm ready to do that I'll have had it 2-21/2 years, so I think I'll lean towards something new that is quicker. He's getting a vette :rolleyes: and dirt cheap cause he's getting it from a friend, I need friends like his ;)

Well, now he's looking at the new accord too, cause it's more of an all year car, it's quick and he said it's really nice inside too loaded with the navigation and it has an MP3 player too... whatever he wants, I'm going to keep the celica another year or so, until I move and settle in at the new job. Then I'll see it for something that I can manage with just one car and is quick enough stock so I don't have to mess with it too much. Then I will get an 04 GSXR750 probably. My bf's friend owns a dealership, so he's selling it for me. He said he'll get me at least 8k since the sliders and blinkers are changed, it has the extended warranty and low miles. We'll see. I'm not getting anything now, the reason I'm selling is cause I want to move alot closer to work and don't have the time for it. I loved that bike, I just took a huge loss since I bought the Yosh, hugger, windshield, etc. But I'll never regret getting the bike, just have other things to focus on now. It sounded so sweet with the Yosh :D There's a club kinda thing here called tri-state, it's NY, NJ, PA and I think some CT riders on it. All sportbikes and they do alot of rides and bike night at Hooters, etc. It was fun. I'll definitely keep in touch so when I get the new bike I can make the meets. It was really cool with about 25 bikes on the hwy all in a pack (as long as everyone knows how to ride in groups, if not it gets a little out of hand).. There is no feeling like being on a bike, don't care how fast you make a car, it's not the same. Especially on something like a gixxer or R1, etc. When you crack that throttle, the air just leaves your body it's so intense. My new boss has a 911, said I can drive it :bounce: I can't wait till it stops raining here so I can.. I told him I hear they corner like they are on rails, he then decided to ride passenger while I drive ;)
