I was just wondering what everyones definition of a launch is. Everyone has a different technique that they use when launching. What's yours? Any certain things that you have to do differently to make your launch more successful?

I hold my ebrake so I can throttle up to about 3500 rpm, then on 2nd yellow (haven't run the new LED lights yet), release the ebrake and bear down on throttle against the clutch, maintaining rpm. I seem to find the best control balancing wheel spin and bogging with slipping the clutch. Once the clutch is engaged, I hammer the throttle and get ready to shift to second.

In the Fucus I rev the piss outta it and ease off of the clutch around 5k rpms.
In the Mustang I try to launch around 1500 or 2k. With over 400 foot pounds of torque anything more fries the tires. At the track, however, I can rev to redline and pull some 1.8's on street ETs.

I'm still trying to find my launching groove after three years. What I do mostly is just rev to about 5K and dump the clutch hard while mashing the throttle. This year it's a bit different with the drag radials.

I am wondering too.. also, is it better to just dump the clutch at high RPM's and spin the tires, or to just try and keep traction?
