I was goin on 104th and a civic pulled up to me at a light, I thought it was just another civic and that I would end up smoking it in my automatic =-BUT-=...It was supercharged and I heard it winding up, this was when I knew I underestimated the civic. It was pretty fast, yeah, it beat me. But I am sure I can take it... when I get forced induction (Nitrous Express). I am pretty proud of myself for losing only by 2 car lengths to a supercharged car...when my car is all motor. I saw that this civic had a High Altitude Imports.com sticker on the side windows, so I wanted to come on and find the black supercharged civic I raced the other day...lets meet up sometime...we have to race again! haha..

cool race, but supercharged cars are not amazingly fast, why would you be proud of that? What is the estimated hp/tq on supercharged civics?

what was all done to the exterior of the car? Are you sure it wasnt Turbo? Pang(TurboSi) is the only black civic i know of on the board and the only one that would cruise around on 104th, i could be wrong tho...

are you saying that you are going to get Nitrous and forced induction?? Most ppl dont consider nitrous as a method of FI... at least I dont.... does anybody else... I usually consider FI as turbo or SC...

I consider nitrous as a power adder which can be considered FI to some. I look at it as you're renting your horsepower. :)

I would have murdered you in my supercharged civic. I think most guys on this board can vouch for that. But I just have a slow jetta these days if you care to try;)

ok maybe there are different views on this issue but I always considered FI as somthing that would create positive intake manifold presure (1+ lb of boost)

Nitrous is NOT forced-induction. I've never heard of people that consider it FI, either. Even though it IS a "power-adder", and if it "does" increase manifold pressure (slightly), it's still not considered FI.
Blowers might not "wind-up", but they do have a distinctive high-pitched whine at all RPM's, which is maybe what he's talking about.

i know this is off topic, but how do you guys like the pontiac GTP?
the 2003 ones get 260hp, I dont know all this talk about SC, I just love the new GTPs, especially 2 doors
is 180-200 civic fast? what would be the normal 1/4 for it ?

hmm, I'd smoke your AV6 too :) I'm supercharged but my car's not black. Also I didn't race any accords yesterday. Was it an SI? EX? Hatch? Coupe? I wasn't on 104th but I was on 120th yesterday. Almost got out of my car and punched this guy too for driving like a fucking idiot but there was a cop on a side street.
I make no distinction between power adders and forced induction.

I would be proud of that because my car is all motor...and the civic has a supercharger. PLUS my car is an automatic ..although V6..it is still a heavy automatic.
GimPin are you saying that you are going to get Nitrous and forced induction?? Most ppl dont consider nitrous as a method of FI... at least I dont.... does anybody else... I usually consider FI as turbo or SC...
No, not both....none of the major companies want to make a turbo for the Automatic V6...there are too many transmission problems with it. There is the Comptech Supercharger for my car, but why pay $3800 for it when I can spend about 1/3 of the price it costs for a supercharger and get a well-rounded nitrous system that gives me even more HP.
But sorry to those that consider only SC and Turbos as Forced Induction. But some people consider nitrous as forced induction too...but I didnt mean to flame up the post by starting this debate.

I know that ALL of your guys' SUPERCHARGED CIVICS would kick my AV6's ass...but my shit is still ALLLLLL MOTOR. I didnt buy my Av6 for speed...I bought it because I like the body style, it was still classy, and it had some speed to begin with. But i am just sayin I thought i put up a good fight for being all motor and an automatic.
The Black Civic was a COUPE, not sure which trim...and it had a body kit, and tinted windows. But thanks to that guy, I found this website...so good promotion with the HAI.COM stickers!
And I THINK it was Supercharged...it might have been turbo...but i didnt hear the air from the bov when he was shifting...all I heard was winding. Not too familiar with SC's and Turbos...so maybe you guys can determine which setup it was...
Thanks for all your guys' comments...

V6 accords are well over 3000 pounds. I have 4 cylinder manual, and its right at 3000 lbs.

i hope you plan on keeping the nitros around or under 50 shots. plus having your transmission fluid drained, a tranny cooler installed because the crap ass tranny's that came with the av6's most likely wouldn't hold up. hks made a prototype turbo but after going through 3 tranny's they sold it to some guy over at accordv6.com. well he's gone through 2-3 tranny's as well, gave up and tried selling it on the accord forum and ebay.
that's the same reason why comptech would only run 4.5 psi on their blowers, regardless if it's for the accord, the tl-s or the cl-s. if you want to add some lowend power to the j30a, look into the unorthodox ss pulley's, the cl-s cam swap, v-afc, comptech or stone racing ss headers (groupbuy for 400 bucks)

Nitrous is NOT forced induction. It is NOT forced into your motor. It is SUCKED into the motor by a vacuum.

actually it's force out from high bottle pressures between 900 and 1200 psi. Even at 600 psi it sprays about 4-5 feet.

Nothing gets sucked. The driving force is a pressure difference. The region of higher pressure expands into the region of lower pressure.
If the nitrous were not at a higher pressure than ambient then air would move into the bottle when the solenoid opened instead of nitrous being injected into the charge as it does.

Sorry to get off the subject...
A 2000 v6 accord is right under 3300 lbs, not including the driver. It is not under 3000 lbs like you stated because, like I said before, even my 2 door manual 4 cylinder weighs over 3000 lbs.

its a 2000, and yes it did say 3,285 pounds, the sources I looked at were right at 3,000
still not a heavy car anyways
LeonZ
05-13-2003, 03:45 PM
That's because your sources suck. The only difference from 98 to 2000 was colors choice. That doesn't subtract 3000 lbs even at sea level.

It sounds like Pangs car to me. You sure he only beat you by two cars? At the top of what, first gear? Maybe he wasn't even pushing his car.

What do you have one your all-motor automatic setup? Anything enough to keep up with a 14 second car? What do those things run stock up here?
Don't worry about me...I'm just trying to figure this out.

Maybe he wasn't racing? I go "almost up to 80" on 104th all the time. A lot of people think that they're winning all these races flooring their automatic V6's at every light, when the other people are just driving normal.
I don't think he would waste his time on an Accord (if it was indeed supercharged), I know I wouldn't.

umm dude its was more than 2 cars lenghts i let of the throttle after the 4 fourth car length i pulled on you. Then you go blasting by after i slowed down..btw im turboed and nice car you got going. Dig the carbon hood
And it would take more than a 150 shot of NOS on your car to keep up :D

damn right if it was a purple accord it wouda whopped ur ass pang haha jk.....
yeah i know for fuckin sure your car didnt lose by 2 car lengths man... yeah with a driver and passenger that weigh 200 lbs each our car weighs about 2 tons.... rice our cars are heavy as shit.... oh and hey alphanumeric welcome to the site, glad to see another V6 ACCORD.... too bad i wont have mine in a month and a half....
the biggest power adders for the V6 Accord go like this minus FI
- NOS
- Unorthodox pullies
- CT headers
- Exhaust
- Intake
and thats about it.... heh
you can also do a CL-S swap but yeah thats pricey.....
LeonZ
05-14-2003, 03:00 PM
He probably didn't know that...
How do you know those are such great power adders since you don't have any of them? Oh yeah, and aside from nitrous, not a single one of those you listed adds power, just an FYI.

that's cause he restated just about everything i posted earlier.... except for the cl-s swap, i'm not that dumb to list it cause for that price, you might as well sell your accord and buy a real cl-s
LeonZ
05-15-2003, 12:50 AM
hehe. if someone is thinking about putting a cl-s engine into accord, he has problems. modding accord to that degree is just thick IMO.
