Turbo is alot better. That is the next step for my M3 since I have the S/C I want more boost to break the 10's, gonna do an AA Turbo kit

Thing about turbos is that you can always turn the boost down...with blowers, you have to change the belt in order to bring down the boost (not sure about the new centrifugals, but essentially its the same).

the centrifugals are sick... i mean id rather have that than a turbo.... that torque... mmmmmmmm turbo sounds fun too... but id rather have that instant power to go through Auto X... thats just me.... i prefere SC for I6...... i prefere turbo for everything else :D

IMO centrifugals are the worst of both worlds.

Which ever you do. do it right the first time. And go turbo

You obviously don't know a whole lot about centrifugal SCs then. Of those three comments above, two are dead giveaways you don't know hardly shit about them.

ummmmm sc in an i6? i like my twin turbos just fine, and im sure i huge turbo would work much better than a s/c.... and yea tourque? you get gobs from turbos too fo0

Compressing Hot air and Belt loss sucks

Supercharger if you need quick throttle response or power at low rpms. I'd prefer one for autocross, but could go either way for road courses.

For small displacement motors, which make NO torque or HP down low, I'd say a turbocharger is a better choice. Since these tiny motors are so weak down low, the parasitic drag placed on the motor from a supercharger would suck, IMHO.

And I believe that you have much more flexibility with a turbo setup than with a supercharger.

I say turbo too.

<-- Junkyard turbo on the way.

You're reffering to a roots blower, not a centrifugal.

In the case of a centrifugal blower you're right. They're great for V8s that already have great low end but not so good for little compacts.

With my roots blower, I gained 35-40 lb/ft at 2000 rpm, but it has a hard time making power on the top end.

i really wish i could use a kenne bell......but i dont think they have them for 5.7L engines.....twins screws and no delay for power, sounds pretty nice

you mean a lysolm? Check out whipple superchargers.

In "Supercharged!" Corky Bell refers to them as Twin screw superchargers. Sounds like a very promising design.

their proper name is lysolm.

never the less they sound bad....my sisters waiting for one for a 96' svt ...... there no delay after 2000 rpm

As for the turbo vs. supercharger, I am now leaning more towards turbocharging... because you can build the whole thing yourself - I like that idea. Plus you can do a junkyard turbo setup for like $1,000 if I remember correctly. I like being able to choose what I want in it - it's like building your own computer, or adding performance parts to a car - you get to choose what will work best.

i like that point.... i spend half of my pathetically anal life in the garage so that is a good idea...of coarse installing any store bought turbo/supercharger is already a job in itself
