Turn the key to the"on" position, start engine. Now turn steering wheel back and forth. You are done.

They only made the 4WS for about 3-4 years think it was from 1989-1992-93

yes they did have it in the preludes. I wasnt sure about the 88-91, but somewhere between 92-96 i know they did for sure. Ive seen them turn before. Nothing REAL noticeable, but you can tell.

oh and BTW, there is no way to "turn it on". It's always on.....

from 88-91 the 4WS prelude had mechanical steering front and rear. It added too much weight to the car and alignments were costly. In 92-95 models they made it electrical fro less parts to fail and alignments were normal priced. In 96 they did away with it and came up with the other Honda abortion known as ATTS.

the 4th gen lude's 4ws is a pretty cool system, it definately makes a difference in handling and turning radius. And Tobi, didn't the atts start with the SH in 97? or did they actually offer it on the older body styles

4WS rocks on dirt and high speeds on the highway. Say you have a 400 hp 4 wheel drive car with 4 wheel steering coming around a dirt road. Do you think that car (Galant VR4 cough cough) or a 400 hp Mustang is going to advance?

Im not Tobi but yes the ATTS (Automatic Torque Transfer System) was introduced with the 1997 Prelude SH and ended with the 2001.

yes it is automatically on, if you really want to turn it off you could try disconnecting the control module, but why?

Why are all the newbies such babies all the damn time? No one was even close to an asshole to this guy, I even went back and read all the posts to make sure.

I think of anyone Tobi would know since he is a well respected honda mechanic. If he says it is on by default (which it should be) then it is on by default.
Uhh, what are you talking about? I read every post in this thread - who is being an asshole in which post??

Hey John I think S-PUNK was referring to Tobi's post, when your new to a board and don’t know how people talk you tend to get offended real quick.

by "turned off" you mean unplugged, right? was there something wrong witht he system that warranted it to be disconnected? or something wrong with the previous owner?

Thats the first thing that came to my mind too...if it was unplugged..there was prolly some reason for doing so. I wouldn't feel comfortable driving the thing untill I had it checked out by a good ghan...err...honda mechanic. Or maybe there was just something wrong with the previous owner...and I'm paranoid. I think I used to have some disorder related to that...but we're better now. :)

Sounds to me like there is something wrong with the current owner, regardless of what was wrong with the previous owner.
