View Full Version : Crushed by the Brick

Two more people during the past two days thought incorrectly that they could walk away from the Brick.

Last night coming out of the CU campus and merging onto 36 a Jetta 1.8T was ahead of me. The driver floored it while looking in the rearview mirror, expecting me to shrink into the distance. Then he looked in the side mirror as I pulled up next to him, then he didn't need to use the mirrors as I pulled ahead of him in 3rd gear. I used my mirror to see his stunned look :D

Then this morning I came across a Mercedes SLK320. Coming out of Interlocken and onto Highway 128 there's a pretty steep hill to climb and the merging lane goes up the hill for about 1/4 mile. He was making the turn in front of me and nailed it climbing the hill. It took a few seconds for my turbo to spool and he got a few lengths on me in first gear, but I pulled next to him in second and in front of him in third.

I wish the temperature could stay this cool for a few more months - the Brick is really liking this Scandanavian weather!

What does "T5-M" mean in your signature? Is that a turbo-type or model or trim-level?

"S60" is the model.

"T5" is the trim level and what Volvo calls their high-pressure turbocharged 5 cylinder engine. It's rated at 247 hp and 243 ft-lb of torque.

"-M" is the designation for manual transmission models, which are few and far between.
