no you cant swap a DOHC B series head onto a SOHC D series block. If you want to keep the single cam then just do a mini me swap. It's the D16Z6 head (92-95 Civic EX) bolted your D16A6 block....Otherwise just spend the $1100 and get a B16...

I'm almost positive that you can not. The crx tranny wont bolt up to a b series motor either.

NO. The block and tranny are D series. In order for things to bolt together they need to be the same series.

B series parts fit other b series engines, d series fit other d series. Example a lot of b16, b18, b20 stuff can be interchanged.

Don't forget motor mounts, new tranny, ECU, etc. After you get all the stuff required for a b16a swap, it's pretty far from $1100. ;)

heres a suggestion if you're worried about money or something, you should just do a ZC swap its affordable and is a really good engine.....

i would rather have the B16. My friend has the ZC in his CRX and it's garbage. Worthless motor IMO.

b16 would be nice, but you just have to know what to do with the ZC to unleash it's power... most people just throw your standard bolt on's and expect it to be fast.

Yeah but then by the time you spend a few grand in the ZC to unleash its power you could have gotten a B16 and some mods to definitely be a monster....

Two things:
1. Why/When/Where did people start calling the single cam VTEC motor "Mini Me"? I don't get it.
2. My ZC rocks my world. All I wanted was a cheap swap that would show Mustang and Camero owners that despite what they read in Motor Week, their cars are NOT the fastest thing on the road. I have about 20k on my ZC since the rebuild and it still makes B16 power (at the wheels). As far as the amount of $$$ it took me to get it there.......no where near as much as a B16 swap would have cost me, the secret is being patient, buying used, and keeping your eyes open. Oh yeah, and just do the work yourself!!!

1. The mini-me swap is a D16A6 block with a D16Z6 head.
2. I see where you are coming from. You can make them pretty quick but i can just never see it making the power a B16 would ever make. If you use the Si ecu, you cut out at 6800 and the 88-89 Teg, you cut out at 7200. With the B16, you can at least take it to 8200. I guess 1,000 RPM really isnt all that much so nevermind :D

I dunno about other people, but I don't have a straight $2,000 to drop in - that would take me xx months long. But, $500 is faster to get. And then I can just gradually go up from there. Sure, the b16a is faster stock - but it is 4 times the price as well.

I'm looking for a browntop zc to stuff in my car ..... $1000 for 30 more hp with a b16 ... just doesn't cut it for me .... 130hp or more in a car that weighs 1800 lbs with the driver should be real fine

its just not a motor many people buy. if it's modded it can be quick yes but otherwise, they arent much more quicker than a SOHC D16A6.
